Here is the claim of the present pope, Pope Benedict XVI posted on Forbes.com last July 10, 2007:
“Pope Benedict XVI has reasserted the universal primacy of the Roman Catholic Church, approving a document released Tuesday that says Orthodox churches were defective and that other Christian denominations were not true churches.”
It takes a lot of misguided guts and false courage to claim that your church is the only true church; and those outside it, do not have the “means of salvation” as what the present Roman pontiff claims. Although the Second Vatican Council, which was approved by two of his predecessors, Pope John XXIII and Pope Paul VI, said that the Scriptures or the Holy Bible should guide the theological and the devotional life of the Catholic Church, this seems to be just a camouflage of the erroneous belief of the RCC. Why? The official Bible of the Roman Catholic Church states that:
(1 Corinthians 5:13) “For them that are without, God will judge. Put away the evil one from among yourselves.” DOUAY-RHEIMS VERSION
Even the most holy of the Roman pontiff (if there be one) does not have any right judging those outside the church, granting (without accepting) that the RCC is the true church. God judges those that are without or outside the church of the Bible.
This claim is highly unscriptural, considering the fact that the RCC has not reached all nations of the world in its almost 2 millennia of history. Justice and equity calls for love and compassion. We do not have the right to judge people to whom we have not yet shared the truth. The apostolic teaching is, those who were not reached by the preaching of the gospel, but are doing the things contained in the law, even if they have not yet heard the law, they will be justified.
(Romans 2:11:15) “For there is no respect of persons with God. For whosoever have sinned without the law shall perish without the law: and whosoever have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law. For not the hearers of the law are just before God: but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these, having not the law, are a law to themselves. Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them: and their thoughts between themselves accusing or also defending one another…”
What is apostolic, is to believe that there is justification (or salvation) for those who, while they have not heard the law, but are doing the things contained in the law written by God in their conscience, God is fair, compassionate, and just (not like all the popes in Rome who carelessly judge those outside their church). God can save even those who have no faith.
(1 Timothy 4:10) “For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.”
Notice the phrase “especially of those that believe”. God can save even those who are incapable of believing.
Can a child or a babe have faith? Can a moron, a Mongoloid, or a mentally retarded believe?
(Hebrews 5:13) “For every one that useth milk is unskillfull in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.”
But God can definitely save them — even if they do not join the Catholic Church. In fact, the very recent findings (but very much delayed biblically) of the International Theological Commission (ITC) said that babies who died without baptism will go to heaven, thus, belying the centuries-old erroneous, non-apostolic and non-biblical belief of limbo. This pope is certainly not of a sound memory. He forgot the most famous and influential product of the Second Vatican Council (Lumen Gentium 8).
Are babies born of Jewish and non-Christian parents qualified to enter heaven? If they are, then they are not members of the Catholic Church, so, the conclusion of the pope that outside the RCC has “no means of salvation” is false! God has it, because He is the only qualified judge and not anybody else outside of The True Church; which certainly is not the Roman Catholic Church, because its teachings are not apostolic.
If the teachings of a church are apostolic, they must conform to the most fundamental apostolic teachings in the Bible. They must be written in apostolic epistles or books. We must learn them directly from the writings of the apostles!
(1 Corinthians 4:6) “But these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollo, for your sakes: that in us you may learn that one be not puffed up against the other for another, above that which is written. “ DOUAY-RHEIMS VERSION
Accepting any teachings not written by the apostles like limbo and purgatory is being non-apostolic!

Remember, God will judge and not the pope!
So, is the statement of Pope Benedict XVI, that other Christians outside the Roman Catholic Church are not true Christians, biblically correct? I vehemently disagree!

There are many teachings in the Roman Catholic Church that are in direct conflict with what God wants. The very much known and ‘followed?’ Ten Commandments have been changed by the RCC.
As is written in Exodus Chapter 20
4 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
You cannot see that for it has been changed in their doctrines.
Aren’t those housed in their great cathedrals idols?
If they truly are the “one true church”, will they not follow that commandment (among many other commandments) of the Lord?

For what I have known for over three decades of my life in the Roman Catholic Church, I’ve seen and experienced some of the most pagan rituals you can ever imagine. I’m talking about first hand experience here.

Catholicsm is not Christianity but a worldwide paganism that rules our world.
I was a born Catholic person, raised with Catholic beliefs and traditions. I go to the chuch almost every week and during first friday and somtetimes even on Wednesday. I never failed to attend the mass except when I am sick or things are beyond my control. I pick up flowers to place in front of Virgin Mary’s statue in our house to pray the rosary. I can say that I am a devoted one. My parents never explained to me the reasons behind all these, all I was taught was, what I am doing is for God and for my good. I noticed that while I am trying to be a good Catholic, children of my age starts teasing me, calling me ” Father or Bakla” because I don’t join with them in their almost daily dringking and smoking sessions which made them a problem to their parents. While I was a Catholic, I do not have a lot of friends…I do not know where to place myself…I am confused – When you want to be good, people mocks you ( you might go beyond heaven or overqualified to heaven that’s what they say), and if you are bad, you become a blacksheep in the family. I never read the Bible then, because what is instilled in our mind was – Bible is very hard to comprehend. I got my first grab of the Bible when after college, a freind of my mother gave her a New Testament – Ang Magandang Balita. I was very eager to read it and have not stopped reading until I finished the whole book. And that is the starting point of my search for the truth because I found out that what the Bible teaches contradicts the beliefs I was raised up to. After studying and joining various religious organizations, thanks God, he made me learned about Bro. Eli. Finally, the long search had been gone.

Claiming is one thing, proving is another thing.
Most of the group that claims that they are the true church were denied by their acts. They condemn those persons that are not their members – is there any compassion in that?
Some of this self-claimed true chrurch is acting like they already divided the heaven among themselves – like iglesia ni manalo. They claim that their church alone will be saved by their god that’s the promise that they are holding on to – but wait, isn’t it this group saying that their god can lie if he wants to? What if their god just lied on that instance?
I strongly believe that the only TRUE CHURCH in this world is the one written in the bible which is THE Church of God. And we as gentiles made ourselves member of that church through the gospel. Adhering to the same truth that the first century Christians believed with.
Are those non-members of this church condemned? It is up to God – I only know that if you’re a part of this True Church you have 100% of being save if you will obey the doctrines written in the bible. That’s my faith!

may i remind you, whoever you are, that judging is different from objecting. brother eli and us is just objecting what catholic is teaching. judging according to the bible means it is condemnation to hell. and im sorry to say that we neither say nor teach to the people that catholic is already condemned to hell. i think you must examine critically the words we are using because we too, are careful in using words. remember, judging is different from objecting (either a principle, idea or just an allegation)

From there, you can find and know that their doctrines is not based on the bible! Well, I can’t just pass this statement of yours without having to say that the bible doesn’t say us to be upset but it’s more intense act is to be done. Spiritual battle is going on between camp of Satan and the camp of God. On the side of God we have to crashed the head of the Serpent. Topple down their strongholds. No peace treaty required. Had you only referred to the the original official text (which can be found here: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html) instead of relying on a Forbes article, you will see that the document never presumed God’s judgment on anyone while re-asserting its claim that the church of Christ subsists in the Catholic church.
The document states:
“It is possible, according to Catholic doctrine, to affirm correctly that the Church of Christ is present and operative in the churches and ecclesial Communities not yet fully in communion with the Catholic Church, on account of the elements of sanctification and truth that are present in them. Nevertheless, the word “subsists” can only be attributed to the Catholic Church alone precisely because it refers to the mark of unity that we profess in the symbols of the faith (I believe… in the “one” Church); and this “one” Church subsists in the Catholic Church.”

It is good that you find some of Bro. Eli’s biblical commentaries as insightful. It shows you are open to new learnings and your effort of reading this blog shows you are searching for the Truth. But when you say that it grieves you when Bro. Eli’s not giving the catholic teaching its just analysis before reacting is grieving to you… let me tell you and attest that Bro. Eli’s intent is to show what is right and correct based on the scriptures and teachings of Christ.
Being Christian means we abide all doctrines taught by Jesus Christ. Even if it would seem so difficult, if you have the will to follow Him, Christ would help us do so. There is pain in changes and development. For example, a decayed tooth must be extracted to be replaced with a healthy tooth. If you do not removed it, other teeth might get affected badly. There is really pain in the process of development and progress – physically & spiritually.
Keep on reading the bible and searching, compare doctrines of different churches if you must, including the doctrines that Bro. Eli brings to us. See if the teachings of the different preachers of our times are indeed contained in the doctrines of Christ. And pray to God that He gives you the spirit to understand the scriptures.

Jesus Christ is the Rock. He is the foundation of Christianity not Peter. And now, the prophecy is correct, Catholics believe that Peter is the Rock.
Isn’t correct that St Paul is the minister to the gentiles?
Aren’t you a gentile? Is St Peter a gentile? How can Peter ministers to the gentile when the authority is not given to him but rather to St Paul?
The other Jews did not accept Jesus Christ. And we are not Jews. How come we will have a jew pope? Why should there be someone to call pope on earth?

I personally, can empathize with your feelings when you have read Bro. Eli’s article that exposes wrong doctrines of what you have taught to be an infallible church.
That is what the catholic pontiff claim, that the Catholic Church is infallible because, as your authorities reason, the Vicar of Christ cannot err in doctrine pertaining to salvation.
But believing one thing is very different in realistic applications.
First of all, never will Bro. Eli write a wasted post. In the contrary, your comment is what is wasted; for you let your personal hurt feelings distort your judgment.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely all of you have received, freely give). But in the catholic church, if you are going to apply for a marriage ceremony, the parish church officials will ask you if it is “SPECIAL or REGULAR” implying that if you choose SPECIAL, you are going to pay extra compare to REGULAR. Again, this is in full contrast with the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.
3. When Philip are going to officiate baptism to the eunuch, he asked for a certain requirement. The requirement his asking for the eunuch to be baptized was if he believe with all his heart. (Acts 8:37-38). But in catholic church, what requirement the catholic priest asking to those babies undergoing baptism? The only requirement I remember when I was then a catholic faithful is the payment receipt which was paid by the parents of those babies undergoing baptism in order to proceed the ceremony.
4. In Rev 22:8-9 says and may I quote: (“I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”). The angel asked John not to worship him because he is just a fellow servant and admonished to worship God. But in catholic church, they used to worship Mary and pray before her as what they always uttered in their “Hail Mary Prayer”. Yup, I do appreciate Mr. Soriano’s insights on non-doctrinal issues, particularly his premium on basic Christian values.
I felt that the post was wasted because it’s essentially a “judge not” post (with verses that I can throw back at you as well!); a topic irrelevant to the document at hand because never did the writers argue that there is no salvation outside the Catholic church. Salvation is ultimately God’s power to grant and despite the fact that God granted the church to declare loose what must be declared loose, and bound what must be declared bound, we can never presume above His mercy. This is a position we have held for years. You must be confusing us with INC.
Other churches are defective meaning lacking in apostolic authority, yes. We can argue day in and day out whether Peter is a rock or a pebble, but we cannot conveniently drop the verse where Christ handed Peter the keys to gates of heaven. Christ did institute apostolic authority.

I have searched the on-line Bible for the verse where Jesus Christ handed over the keys of heaven to Peter and wasn’t surprised have found none. Or even the gates of heaven for that matter. What came across my search was the gates of hell and it is in Mat 16:18.

RCC made people believe that Peter was the first pope, I have not seen any proof to that though. But no apostle will tolerate bowing/kneeling down to something in any form in the earth or beneath the sea or even in heaven. which is the basic gesture of idolatry and which is abominable to God. It is the first and foremost of the ten commandments in which you can usually find in any of the RCC’s house of worship and deliberately disobeying.

Would you agree that Matthew 16 contains a prophesy? And you might find yourselves belonging to those prophesied on the Chapter that the Catholic Church is clearly trying to monopolize. Sadly, you may have the spirit considered as a stumbling block.
Based on the Chapter: Matthew 16, Jesus has prophesied, (God the Father speaking through Jesus Christ) that St Peter shall be maliciously used and be referred to as a rock. Some, having the mind of men not of God understood differently. But actually, St Peter, Simon Barjonas, was referred to by Jesus as a stone in this verse, having previously given him the name, Peter. In this chapter, through Jesus Christ, the God the Father until now is reminding Satan that the gates of hell shall not win over the Church of God, where Jesus Christ is the rock or foundation.
Let us see first how Peter acknowledged Jesus Christ as the Son of the living God.
Matthew 16:
15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
These verses show that it is the Father who shall reveal to us the divine understanding of who Jesus Christ is. Obviously, it is neither the Roman Catholic Church nor Satan who shall say if Jesus is the Rock or not, but the Father in Heaven.
To continue, Jesus Christ began to prophesy:
Mathew 16:18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
The next verse was even used by the Roman Catholic to further prove that St Peter is the rock because of the giving of the keys of the kingdom of heaven:
Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
20Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.
But the verse implies that Jesus Christ was the one being mentioned to have the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever he loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Afterwhich, Jesus warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.
Matthew 16: 20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
The “he” referred to here was Jesus Christ!
Matthew 18:
18″I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19″Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”
The verses that followed, found below impart to Christians, including Peter, not to doubt the foundation of the Church, which is Jesus Christ, this is because some Jews cannot accept that Jesus Christ is a God and the son of God. Since in the future, it is not only Jews that shall read the scriptures but also “us”, including those who has the spirit of the unbelieving Jews.
Thus, Satan, as he closely watch and unable to control his contempt, began rebuking Jesus Christ for the overwhelming prophecy.
Matthew 16:21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
So, in this verse, is Peter really the one trying to rebuke Jesus Christ? No, it is not Peter, it is Satan. It’s like the serpent telling Eve that she will not die when she eats the fruit of good and evil.
Genesis 3:4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
To continue, But Jesus Christ, knowing the mystery of Satan, replied:
Matthew 16:23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”
Thus, blatantly, we should not be shocked why the Roman Catholic Church is bragging their authority. This is because they have in mind the things of men, just like their “father”, not the things of God! Since then, Peter for them became the “Rock.” Catholics would even refer to every stories made by men that will benefit their claim, including the Aramaic language that they said was used by Matthew. Thus, Peter became the foundation of the Roman Apostolic Catholic Church.
Even a brother in the Church of God knows this should not be and the complete reference for knowledge are those that God referred to contained in the HOLY BIBLE:
Isaiah 34:16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that
readeth, and they that
hear the words of this PROPHECY,
and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
There you go, the Peter that the Roman Catholic Church is trying to monopolize is really Satan who is trying to tempt Jesus Christ! Satan believed this too for the lack of understanding. Satan neither have the capacity nor ability, even power to read the hearts of every man, what more to read Jesus Christ’s heart!
Do you still wonder why the Catholics and her daughter churches, even though they know that it is not the person of Peter who rebuked Jesus Christ, but the evil spirit that has spoken out of the mouth of Peter, still did not realize what was really happening that time? This is due to the lack of understanding they acquired from Satan:
Romans 11:
7What then? Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest were hardened, 8as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”
9And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them; 10let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and bend their backs forever.”
The Church of God was made a spectacle to angels. Therefore it will not be hard to accept that even Jesus Christ was being watched by Satan during that time.
1 Corinthians 4:
9For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on display at the end of the procession, like men condemned to die in the arena. We have been made a spectacle to the whole universe, to angels as well as to men.
Satan really is a deceiver. He tries to imitate God. God the Father spoke through Jesus Christ. Satan spoke through Peter.
Satan, as an imitator, has also built his own church together with the rivers of teachings that he tries to put in the hearts of every man. This church even gave birth to prostitutes based on Revelation 17. But be forewarned, he imitates the things of God to deceive people and even angels. Satan might have thought that Jesus Christ can be tempted like Eve. Even so, he might have thought too that Peter really is the rock because of his ignorance. Hence, he obviously used this situation to deceive people and angels.
But then again, Jesus is the true chief cornerstone. Jesus is really the rock!
1 Corinthians 3:
11For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
16Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.
18Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a “fool” so that he may become wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. From the verse, Jesus Christ will be the one helping Christians that will remain in the Church of God until the end.
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
To prove that the true church is the Church of God with a promise of salvation, Jesus Christ being the foundation and having the keys of the gates of heaven.

If you are true and good enough you can try to check and ask yourself where in the Bible you can find the images and artifacts as the objects of worship to God (although you claim not) inside your church to make peoples believe that the Catholic church is the true Church? Why in your Catholic Ten Commandment missed the most if not one of the most important Commandments, the second Commandment of not making images and I quote “Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them; for I, Jehovah, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. (Deu 5:8-10)
and the Catholics split the last to make it 10? I am one like you before but I searched diligently the Scripture for explanations of many things and happenings in life and I found the reasons why evils are happening especially in the Philippines because of Catholicism. And because Catholics don’t worship God in spirit and in truth as the Bible says then I quote “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hinder the truth in unrighteousness; because that which is known of God is manifest in them; for God manifested it unto them. For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse: because that, knowing God, they glorified him not as God, neither gave thanks; but became vain in their reasonings, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts unto uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves: for that they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. These are the main reasons and most important explanations why evils are happening, especially in most Catholic countries of the world.
To all concerned try to make or find other justified Biblical explanations to make us believe that the Catholic church is the true church including those other churches that emanated from Catholicism claiming to be true. If I were you, come out and inlluence others to join the True Church of God where you can find peace, happiness and contentment that only God can give.
Ignorance, ignorance, ignorance. You alledge the that the pope claims that their is no christian church outside of the Catholic church and say that he has the audacity to judge those outside of the Catholic church and then turn around and do exactly what you preach against by saying that the Catholic church is not christian. You Hypocrite! I didn’t read all the responses but for those who feel the same way are as ignorant as the day is long. I left the protestant church not out of hate. I love my childhood christian days and appreciate my upbringing. My husband is Catholic and when my children felt close to the Father, son and holy spirit through the Catholic Church, then I decided to check them out. To my surprise, not only are they the most reverent church torward Christ, but they are the most biblical. For those protestants who claim they are pagan, not only misunderstand the Catholic church but have never studied the bible with a well informed Catholic member. If they know their bible well, they will blow any protestant away who is not pigheaded. A protestant’s information comes from another uninformed protestant or a Catholic who had a problem with the morals and beliefs of the pontificate and left to find a faith that follows their needs rather then God’s will. Some may have left out of hurt or abuse from other members. Mislead protestants and catholics mislead other protestants and so on and so on. Not only are Catholics biblical but they are the ones that put the bible together in the first place. Don’t believe me. Look it up by secular means and not by a religious point of view. As far as I’m concerned, anybody who has the love for Christ and follows him to the best of their ability is christian. But who am I to say. I’m just another human being. One thing I would like to say though is that I know how some evangelical churches are anti-catholic and the lies they teach!!! The believes of the Catholics that are twisted by protestants! My Seventh Day Adventist upbringing (which I appreciate despite some of their ignorances) did just that and I feel sorry for those who blindly follow these untruths. And in any church protestant or catholic, one has to be careful of cults that stem off of Christian Churches. And yes, in some parts of the world catholics confuse pagan beliefs with catholic beliefs, combine them and are possibly in danger. Pray for them. May God have mercy on all of us and God Bless.

At first the church was made up of Jews in jerusalem then it spread across the Roman Empire to all walks of life including men and women, children, rich, poor, slaves, Romans, etc.
Catholic comes from the Greek word Katholikos. Kata (concerning) and Holos (whole) The word Catholic comes from the Greek word meaning “regarding the whole” “universal” or “general”. The word church comes from the Greek word Ecclesia which means “those called out”. Remember, christians existed long before the new testament was put together. There is history outside of the bible and there are christian events still happening long after the bible was written.
How come that our Church, the Roman Catholic Church is not the true Church.
