The Church Is Relevant to Salvation

Common sense is logical and biblical

Common sense is defined in the dictionary as sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts.

1. The Lord Jesus Christ established a church. (Mt.16:18)

2. He taught the apostles his teachings. (Mt.28:20)

3. His teachings came from the Father (Jn.7:16)

4. Rejecting His teachings is rejecting Christ himself and the Father. (Jn.12:48)

Hence, no man in his right senses can say that the Lord Jesus Christ is non-sensible and illogical! Part of his teachings tells us that a preacher must be sensible.

Then it behooves the overseer to be without reproach, husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, well-ordered, hospitable, apt at teaching,

The Lord Jesus Christ is without doubt the most sensible preacher of all times!

1. He established a church!

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Is it necessary for Jesus Christ to establish a church? Logically it is, and so He would! It follows that one is illogical if he does not accept the importance of the church. How did Christ regard the church? He loved it and gave his life for it.

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

In human terms, Christ can be said to be the Church’s better half! It will grossly be against common sense and logic if one says that the church is not important to salvation. While Jesus Christ is the Savior, He is going to save the church.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

Which is the body?

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Are there illogical people who, in the absence of common sense, say that the church is not needed for salvation? Here are some of them.

A. Pat Robertson

B. Harold Camping

C. Apollo C. Quiboloy

2. The church is a part of His teachings!

The word “church” appears 76 times in the New Testament of the King James Version of the Bible, 73 times in the Revised Standard Version, 77 times in the Catholic Authorized Version or the Douay-Rheims Version, 74 times in The American Standard Version, 73 times in the Codex Sinaiticus in English Translation and 86 times in the newly translated Good News Bible of the Catholic and the Protestant.

The above statistics sustain the fact that the church is a vital teaching of Christ and the New Testament!

It is not true that the church age has ended like what Harold Camping and Apollo Quiboloy say. The church was intended by God to be the proclaimer of his wisdom until eternity.

10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

At the end of this age, the church will be presented to Himself blameless.

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Anybody therefore who says that the church age has ended is a liar!

3. The teachings of the Lord Jesus came from the Father.

JOHN 7:16

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

4. Rejecting the teachings of Christ is rejecting the Father! That’s the logic of it and that has biblical basis!

JOHN 13:20

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

LUKE 10:16

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

And most importantly: Rejecting the teachings of Christ (part of which is extensively about the church) is rejecting Christ himself.

JOHN 12:48

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

It is therefore a heap of stupidity to say the least that the church is not necessary for salvation!

Is there salvation outside the church established by the Lord Jesus Christ?

Watch out for this topic on the next blog, God willing!

  1. I enjoy reading this blog. It is very rich in argument!

Using the sorites argument, Bro. Eli proved that the Church is relevant to salvation. Then by method of difference, he showed that religious leaders who claim the church is irrelevant are false. Therefore, Bro. Eliseo Soriano is a certified logician!

    • Did you think that some church or sect are always manifest that they has a true body of Christ but look their attitudes the way they speak, their boastfulness, not to have patients, not to Love their people by always criticizing; instead to pray for them? Some of those are Hippocrates. Did you think that if u Love Christ you always love the people around you? Absolutely, Yes the way of concerning to always praying for them. Not by own will to criticize but by the way God justified us when he died on the Cross. Read John 3: 16 any version because I believe that all translation are absolutely correct.

      • “born again” fanatics (or hypocrites) really know so little, and would rather be deceived by businessmen pastors whom the Bible call greedy dogs (Isa. 56:11).

Romans 12:9 >> Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

Fake love is when you don’t tell the people you love that they are being fooled, as in the case of fake flight agencies recruiting people to abroad. We must expose their anomalies.

1 Cor. 13:4-8 >> Love… it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right…

That is true love. The bad thing is that most people prefer being fooled and hypocrisy of their pastors than showing true love. Even CHRIST attacked the scribes and Pharisees who are also hypocrites like the “born again” pastors. CHRIST showed us true love, which Bro. Eli is imitating.

Don’t worry, we are taught to always pray for our fellowmen who are being deceived by “greedy dogs”. And GOD is listening to our prayers, as evidenced by the increasing number of brethren daily, as in overseas.

        To GOD be the glory!

  2. Those so-called preachers who proclaim the irrelevance of church to salvation are certainly those false prophets who are apparently referring to churches other than the Church of God which, for purposes of salvation was established by Christ according to the Bible.

Among those churches which are biblically deemed not only irrelevant but anathema to salvation are as follows:

    1. The church which cannot do away with inherent attitude of paganism (idol worship practice) and passionate with repetitive prayers not relevant to ground situation. (Catholic church)
    2. The church which teaches that salvation is not earned by good deeds but received only as a free gift of God’s grace through mere faith in Christ. Nevertheless this church demands from members the “good deed” of giving 10% tithes. (Protestant and Born Again churches)
    3. The church that totally deprive Jesus Christ of His Divinity. (Iglesia ni Manalo)
    4. The church whose leader is shameless with his multiple failures when it comes to penchant for his “end of the world” predictions. (Ministry of Harold Camping alias Ka Amping)
    5. The so called Kingdom headed by alleged “appointed son of god”. (Kingdom of Apollo Quiboloy).
    6. Many others.

We must be aware that above mentioned churches are propagating doctrines different from that of Christ as written in the bible. Hence, we are better off without those churches in our midst and their absence would mean better chance for our salvation as they are bound to just mislead our souls.

On the other hand, Bro. Eli, in this article is referring to the biblical Christian Church which he, as usual is able to present with incontrovertible biblical evidences. This is the biblical Church of God whose doctrine is of God and by being able to follow His biblical words; the followers would find “belongingness” in it. This is the Church which is relevant to salvation and in this Church, the true Christians belong.

    • What is the difference about Church which is the people walk with Christ, and the Religion? What is the difference among of them? We need a hard time to receive salvation? we think that people has a power to receive salvation by do their “good deeds” or by his Faith? So that we can considered that the good deeds is the fruit of our Faith and true acceptance of Jesus Christ and by receiving his Holy Spirit we do the good deeds. The fact is Faith in Christ Jesus is the real root of good deeds by accepting him., And I have a question it is really necessary to have a arguments by criticizing others people wrong why we don’t see our selves as a mirror if we our have a good attitudes and have a faith in Jesus Christ. Do you think that these people are Righteous?

      • Of course, it is really necessary and a must to correct (2 Tim. 3:16) those fools who are worshiping not the true God in the bible. If you are a “real” Christian you must worship the real Jesus Christ, because many false preacher nowadays claiming that they are of Christ (Matt. 24:5) but the truth is they are not of Christ by observing their deeds and teachings. You should know brother that true love rejoices in the truth (1 Cor. 13:6) and so, it means that if you reveal the stupidity of those religions mention above is love to them. We should love all people, even our enemies. What we must hate is those erroneous doctrine taught by the greedy dogs (Isa. 56:11). because lots of people are deceive, but some of them chose darkness rather than the light (Jo. 3:19) Of course we sin (1 Jo. 1:8) but there are sin not to death (1 Jo. 5:17 ) and the other way around. What we must avoid is mortal sin against God. Being Godly is useless unless you worship the true God, the creator of everything that has life.

  3. The Church Is — RELEVANT — to Salvation?

Absolutely yes, because the primary duty of the church is to spread and show the gospel of salvation.

  4. the case is closed…Bro.Eli has again won a case for Christ….Quiboloy,Robertson and Camping are found guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

  5. Eli Soriano opined:

Common sense is defined in the dictionary as sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts.

    Facts assert by Eli Soriano:

    1. The Lord Jesus Christ established a church. (Mt.16:18)

If this is a christian church then there is only one church… the Catholic Church! Eli Soriano teaches about a church of the firstborn in the wilderness of Sinai… is that church in the wilderness Eli Soriano taught the church of Christ?

    2. He taught the apostles his teachings. (Mt.28:20)

Is the teaching of Christ about baptism coming from John the Baptist? If so… it is true that Jesus entered the religion of John the Baptist through baptism and learned his teaching and taught it to his apostles. One example of this is the writing in the NT in Luke:1:32-35 and the manuscript in the Dead Sea Scroll are the same.

    Luke 1:32-35 says;
“He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High … The power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God”.

    Dead Sea scrolls manuscript Q4Q246;
“[X] shall be great upon the earth. [O king, all (people) shall] make [peace], and all shall serve [him. He shall be called the son of] the [G]reat [God], and by his name shall he be hailed (as) the Son of God, and they shall call him Son of the Most High.”

    3. His teachings came from the Father (Jn.7:16)

How about the teaching in the NT about; the children of darkness and the children of light. This teaching comes from Zoroaster a religious teacher who came before Jesus. Does it mean also that Zoroaster’s teaching came from the Father.

    • oh my..another misled person..tsk tsk, @R.A – I can’t blame you to have arguments like that because unfortunately, you don’t know anything about the word of God..just keep listening to bro. Eli.. (Ayaw pa aminin pero gusto naman talaga makinig…uuuuuyyyy! ) haha!peace!

      • @daniel… you think R. A. is misleading you? You try checking with the verses in Luke 1:32-35… it says there;

“He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High … The power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God”.

Now in the Dead Sea Scrolls it says….

        Dead Sea scrolls manuscript Q4Q246;
“[X] shall be great upon the earth. [O king, all (people) shall] make [peace], and all shall serve [him. He shall be called the son of] the [G]reat [God], and by his name shall he be hailed (as) the Son of God, and they shall call him Son of the Most High.”

Can you detect the similarity of the verses? The Dead Sea Scrolls are works of the Essenes believed to be the early Christians. They started the monastic life which catholic monks today are doing.

    • There’s only one church and it is the WHAT??? catholic church??? where was that in the bible? The word catholic is not even present in the scripture. You call catholic church members as christian well that is a great insult to christians. Christian follows the doctrine of Christ, catholic church is not even close. Instead they are open, open to all iniquities. I know I’ve been there and done that and I thank God that I’m done.

Christ is knocking R.A. just let Him in and He will show you the way.

      • bambi says on July 7, 2011 at 4:45 am:

“There’s only one church and it is the WHAT??? catholic church???”

Yes bambi… it is the Catholic Church. You asked if it is in bible? Yes it is in the bible because the bible is [in layman’s language] the official religious book of the Catholic Church. The MCGI is not written in the bible and your leader Mr. Eli Soriano has no authority to interpret the bible. The authority of interpretation is the Catholic Church.

Sana naman Bambi maliliwanagan ka sa paningin mo.

      • @ odan: please cite the verse where you can find the catholic church of yours. If you can show a verse, we’ll clap for you.

About Church of GOD, it is mentioned 20 times in the KJV.

Then you will claim that you are the one enlightened? Is that a joke?

Think before posting, and argue with logic.

      • @ODAN

maybe you belong to one of these
MARK 4:2- so that, “‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!'”
JEREMIAH 5:21 – Hear this, you foolish and senseless people, who have eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear:

        God bless…

  6. They say that church age is already ended, that it is not needed. Shame on you! Shame on you!
Jesus Christ has purpose why he established the church and gave his life to it.
As the saying goes common sense is not now common especially for preachers who are claiming that they know the truth. Shame on you!
Thanks be to God that there is bro. Eli who can expose this kind of stupidity.

  7. These are the kind of preachers in this dispensation.

    1 Timothy 1:7
Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor concerning what they affirm.

    • @Jezreel… it’s better here if Mr. Eli Soriano will answer here in this blog so that everybody in this blog will be benefitted by his answer. At saka mabasa din natin… di ba?

      • @ Odan: if you know Bro. Eli on media, you must know that he is a very busy person: 24 hrs on the web, live webcasts on Thursdays and Fridays in Philippines only, Bible expo in South America on Sundays and Mondays, Tuesday for Philippines, Thanksgiving on saturdays and managing Church activities as his free time. I’m not kidding, you can always check him out on the net or attend our gatherings to see him preaching live.

I hope everybody will understand. And if you are observant, he is not always posting on this blog. It means he only finds some free time because his sked is hectic.

    • @Jezreel B. Magbanua: If he is a busy person whom I respect him for that; then it’s no use asking him. And if you understand that he is a busy person… why are telling me to directly ask Bro Eli through email or twitter. If it’s true that many in your church can answer me then why do you not answer or some members of your group?

      • @ odan: oh sorry if you got me wrong. Bro. Eli is busy on his SCHEDULED expo and gatherings, excluding the long travel in America, you know that. That’s why I suggest you ask him during those scheduled expo and livestream. I hope it’s clear.

Yes many in our Church can answer you, GOD commanded Christians about that.(1 Peter 3:15). But I strongly suggest that you just ask, or try to ridicule with your reasoning, Bro. Eli because not all of us are good in explaining, I admit I’m included in that. But we are sure of ourselves that we understand the real point, although we find it hard to explain to others like you. We can always try with GOD’ help but I believe my suggestion will be the best. In this case, if you are the one correct, then you will have the chance to save us all from damnation, if you prove Bro. Eli wrong; a way of showing love to your fellowmen. Also, you will saving much time in doing so than posting in this blog because more people will be watching you and all of us will benefit from your asking questions, or questioning.

I hope you understand with GOD’s help.

  8. To God be the glory!

The good news must be spread throughout the whole world.
any critics and comments even detractors are all wecome in this website
Not like the other religion or web site who will find you and kill you.if you
say anything against them. There is no religion like this in this world who’s leader
will answer any question in humble manner base on the Bible.
Go ahead Bro. Eli and Bro. Daniel.

  9. Preacher now a days simply stating their opinion just like buying a merchandise without even thinking if its necessary , so they simply talk without knowledge at all , the worst is they spread their opinion … oh i dont even consider it as an opinion >>>might as well call it a garbage so lets throw it to the waste basket … he!he!he! a cent of advice to those preacher if its a waste dont spread it . Listen to Bro Eli you needed it badly . Bro Eli >>>thumbs up !!!

  10. a fake preacher called in the bible as dog , and dog doesnt have logic , because whats in their coconut shell are money opps , and profit , beware of dogs …he! he ! he !they will bark you at hindi simpleng kagat lang pati kaluluwa niyo makakagat . For your salvation sake contact MCGI . Good luck and hope to see you in one of pagkakatipon. Thanks be to God!!!!

  11. I am not an intelligent compared to people who are here. But I just opened my mind and emptied my cup and then I understood what Bro. Eli said. A very comforting teaching from the Bible.

  12. We think that people has a power to receive salvation by do their “good deeds” or by his Faith so that we can considered that the good deeds is the fruit of our Faith and true acceptance of Jesus Christ and by receiving his Holy Spirit we do the good deeds May God keeps mercy on us and let the gospel be known to the world.

  13. May GOD bless us all in this blog, especially you Bro Eli and Bro Daniel, and the brethrens. Of course the Church is very much relevant to salvation, but it must be the Church of God many times mentioned in the bible, and not the fake churches founded by business-minded men whose intention is to enrich themselves and not really to tell the TRUTH. These are the fake churches who want to influence the government like the inc ni manalo, quiboloy’s group, and many others like the centuries old catholic church who has misled millions of Filipinos since the time of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.

The Church that is relevant to salvation is the one with Jesus Christ as its head, and no other. The Church of GOD where members form the body and Jesus Christ as the head is the one Church established by GOD through His Son Jesus, for all that will be saved. The numerous verses are simple enough to understand for those from within the Church but will remain a parable for those outside the Church.

Follow this blog and learn some more about GOD’s TRUTH, and everything will be added unto you. More blessings for you Bro Eli and Bro Daniel, we always pray.

  14. There is no point of discussion, it is a fact, the church is relevant to salvation. We have to qualify of course, what and which church. As proofs and evidence will show, the Church is the CHURCH OF GOD mentioned in the Bible. People and fake Preachers who claim to be Christian are LIARS. How can they be Christians when their doctrines and way of life are all against the teachings of Jesus Christ. I agree with Truthhuntsman that the churches and personalities he mentioned are not to be believed, they are using the Bible and their churches t enrich themselves and get a hold on society, government officials, business, etc., all for their personal interest.
Relevant to salvation is the Church of God. Come brethrens, join us, and you will be saved. Learn more from GOD’S TRUTH as preached by Bro Eli, and Bro Daniel, who we always pray will keep on their mission in spite of the threats, difficulties, and all forms of persecution.

  15. i just wanna ask Bro. Eliseo Soriano, becase im confused about this verses
    Matthew 19:26
    King James Version (KJV)
26But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are POSSIBLE.

    Hebrews 6:18
that by two immutable things, in which it is IMPOSSIBLE for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:

would you mind to answer me.. pls

  16. Ephesians 2:8-9 King James Version (KJV)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Here, apostle Paul clearly states “saved (past tense) through faith”. It’s not of our good deeds, you help the poor? you don’t lie? yeah, that is man trying to reach out for God, but God’s way is He trying to reach to people that whoever accept His gift, whoever believes in His Son should not perish but have everlasting life.

Ephesians 2:18 King James Version (KJV)
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

This would be backed up by John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    Why through Him?
John 1:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Ephesians 2:19-20 King James Version (KJV)
    19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
    20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

“Therefore” ! You are saved, Therefore!
Eph 2:19-20 is stating the church. You are saved through faith, a gift of God, and therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens..

    No wonder why

    Ephesians 5:25
    Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

    is of past tense also

That’s why I cannot accept his, what he call, logic here
“In human terms, Christ can be said to be the Church’s better half! It will grossly be against common sense and logic if one says that the church is not important to salvation. While Jesus Christ is the Savior, He is going to save the church.”

The church will not be saved. The church are the saved.

  17. Thanks be to God for this Bro.Eli, i have now something solid to share to friends when they tell me they believe in God but they think it’s not important which Church you are affiliated with. 🙂
