The phrase seventh-day is an adjective (adjectival) phrase.
If the meaning of the word “Adventist,” is a person that awaits for the arrival or coming into being of something (which certainly is the true meaning), therefore:
the name, Seventh Day Adventist Church, means a church that awaits for the seventh day and not of the advent of Christ!
This fact is also true even if the original “Iglesia Adventista del Septimo Dia” is used!

This is definitely the genuine teaching of Christ written in the Bible. I think the SDA has a double standard. While acknowledging that there are laws written in the Old Testament that are not applicable in the Christian era, they will just cherry pick on laws that can benefit their religion like tithing.

Today their church is called MCGI which is biblically wrong. If you will understand Soriano’s church correctly “M” stands for “members”… in Mr. Soriano’s explanation in his TV program that; they are members of the first church established by Christ in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago. Really?

Proof please…
The proof is not only in the bible but the truth in history. The Essenes who wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls used first the word “church”. Jesus Christ established the first church on St. Peter as recorded in Matthew 16:13-19. Christ was talking to St.Peter that upon him he established his church.
FYI… the books in the bible contain legendary and allegorical stories. You cannot be sure that all happened exactly as they are written. Example is the flood in Noah’s time… it is a legendary story as told by Babylonians and Sumerians in their folklore. The Hebrew tribe who came from the land of Ur retold it and copied it in the Torah.
Why don’t you arrange a debate with Bro. Eli so you can prove your point and don’t be a coward, rather than protesting through facebook. I am very sure Bro. Eli will be very happy to accept your proposition.

Eli your question about the name of the church and why the word “members” is clung to the Church of God. Answer is very simple, but of course Bro. Eli can best answer that with all the important details you need to know. Now, if you are open-minded, there would not be a problem understanding why we use the name MCGI. However, if you are a fanatic of your religion, then, uhmm… well, you can definitely be sure you won’t accept Bro. Eli’s teaching.

You want me to ask Eli Soriano about the bible? I’m sorry to say that Eli Soriano is not the authority of the bible but the Catholic Church. Your leader learned the bible by himself, then if so… I think he projects only his own interpretation and not in harmony with the original writers. The Old Testament for example is a history of the Jewish people and he did not say about that… but like any other cultic religions he wants to teach that the Torah or the Tanach is changed through Jesus Christ.
In naming your church “MCGI” unknowingly you are copying the Catholic Church by using the word “international”. This word means universal or catholic. During the time of the early church every sect was jostling to put a name on their church. There were the Gnostic, the Manicheans, Marcionian and the catholics. All of them evade to use the word God in their churches because religiously it is not allowed according to the Jews who are the owner of the bible. But the “Early Fathers” of the church use the words “church of God or Christ in their writings. You can find their writings as apochrypal or hidden but it is almost similar to the canonized books.
After so many years the catholic church won the recognization of the people but christian sect today always assert to name their church as the true church. Is it the church of god… because it is written in the bible? No…. the reason for this is that among the early believers of one God especially the Jews… they cannot use the name of God in ordinary living. This is why the Jews use the word synagogue in their house of worship without the name God.
In the Jewish tradition there are rules to be followed on how to use the name of God in written and in oral form.

The apostle Paul preached, “…that you may learn by us NO TO GO BEYOND WHAT IS WRITTEN…” (I Cor. 4:6) They were very much particular with the scriptures. Paul particularly mentioned the name of the Church that they preached, which is the Church of God (I Cor. 1:1-2). There are more than 10 verses that say that the church is called CHURCH OF GOD. NO CATHOLIC CHURCH or SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH was written in particular. NONE.
The congregation of God in the Bible is called in many names, like CITY OF TRUTH, CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS, etc. We have registered it so that FALSE GROUPS AND PREACHERS will not be able to use it. The name of God and anything that belongs to HIM should not be used in vain and in evil intentions to deceive people. “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain…” – Deut. 5:11
Christians are disciplined by these principles, which PAGANS like CATHOLICS lack.
