The Essence of Truth in Life

We do not just say the truth. We have to know the deeper meaning of truth. There exist divine truth and natural truth. Divine truth is synonymous to spiritual truth or the invisible truth, while natural truth is physical truth, tangible truth – a kind of truth that physical people like us can easily comprehend. But our beings as humans have two important elements – the physical and the spiritual or divine. And so with everything that exists in the universe.

(2 Corinthians 4:18) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

It is clear that there are things which are not seen and there are things which are seen, the visible and the invisible, the spiritual and the material. But outside the Bible which is the source of all truth, how can we prove this glaring truth or this doubted truth among many scientists of today? In a magnet, there are two truths that exist – the material which is the steel itself, and the unseen which is the power of magnet to attract objects or metals. The magnet is a very good example of two existing truths – the magnetism which is unseen and the steel which is seen.

The Bible or God’s word tells us of two distinct truths.

(Romans 1:19-20) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…”

It is clear that there are invisible things of God. And the invisible things of God are made manifest by the things which He made. How do you prove that the spiritual or the invisible things of God are manifest by the things which He made? The Bible tells us that God can see. In fact, He sees everywhere.

(Proverbs 15:3) “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”

If you notice, it is not God Himself who is everywhere, but His eyes are everywhere. Meaning, He can see everywhere. The proof that God can see is well ventilated in the Bible.

(Psalms 94:9) “He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?”

The understanding to make an eye that can see comes from someone who can see. The understanding that made an ear that can hear comes from someone who has the capacity to hear. It is very much like a learned technician who has invented the microphone – a device that can hear what we say and transmit it through the speaker. A learned technician can create a camera that can see because he has the understanding of how something can see like his very eyes. These are truths that no one can deny. The spiritual truth that an invisible God can see, is manifest in the eyes he made.

But we must not forget that there are two kinds of truth: the spiritual, or the heavenly, or the divine, and; the physical, the literal and human truth. The Lord Jesus Christ, when He taught His disciples and even those who do not want to believe Him, made use of material truth to make them understand the essence of spiritual truth.

(John 3:12) “If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?”

It is clearly stated in the verse that for us to understand spiritual truth or heavenly

truth, we have to be learned and believing in the material examples or discussions that

the Lord Jesus Christ teaches us. Is there a way that we can separate divine truth from physical and tangible truth? There is a way.

(Hebrews 4:12) “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any

twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the

joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The power of the word of God can separate the soul from the spirit. So, by the word of

God, we can distinguish between physical and spiritual things. And the Bible has this to

say. In Matthew 5:30, the Lord Jesus Christ said –

(Matthew 5:30) “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is

profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body

should be cast into hell.”

Of course, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Almighty God, speaks of no

nonsense information. When He said, “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off,”

(Matthew 5:30) “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is

profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body

should be cast into hell.”

We will see that the cutting away of the hand requires your initiative and effort. You will not let anybody cut your own hands. It is through your power that you must cut your hand and throw it away. It is also in your initiative that you have to throw away your right hand. But can this be a physical truth?

Others regard this as physical, so there are countries in the world that execute this thing – the cutting away of the hand of someone who has stolen something or a thief. But, could that be perfectly compatible to the pronouncement of the teacher from heaven? It will not. Not so many human beings will cut their own hands although there are people who are willing to cut another man’s arm or hand. We can presume that not so many people, not so many human beings will voluntarily cut their hands and throw them away. So we have to see from the Bible what that means. Is the cutting away of one’s hand, his own initiative, the cutting away of the literal hand?

(Ephesians 4:28) “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working

with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.”

Somebody who steals or commits an offense by his hands is admonished by

the Scriptures to stop stealing, “steal no more.” By that, spiritually, he is cutting off his

evil hands and not his literal hands because the verse continues to say, “let him labour,

working with his hands”. Meaning, the hands, the literal hands will remain intact. What is

to be cut off is the stealing or the evil deeds of hands but not the literal hand because in

that case you will not have the hand anymore to do what is good but the verse says,

“working with his hands the thing which is good”. So, the hands remain.

What does that mean therefore? It means that the words of the Lord Jesus Christ has in it spiritual truth. Spiritually, we must cut a stealing hand and it must come from your own initiative. No outside force can make you do that but your own determination. Even if you are forbidden by the law or by force, you are forbidden by somebody powerful than you are, when a stealing hand sees an opportunity to steal, when there are no eyes watching, it will still steal. So, the initiative must come from the owner of the hands. “…cut it off, and cast it from thee:”

What are you going to throw away and cut? The stealing. Let us prove that.

(Colossians 3:5) Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

Mortify – to put off, to kill, to cut off your members which are upon the earth; fornication”, et cetera. It is very clear in the Bible what the Lord Jesus Christ means

when He said “cut it off”, it must come from your initiative. To cut off or to mortify the evil

deeds, not only of your hands, but the entire body itself.

Therefore, we find a glaring truth that if it cannot be done physically, it possibly

can be done spiritually. Proving that there are two kinds of truth in the Bible: the

spiritual or the divine, and the material or the human. Of course, not all these kinds of

truths will always jive or harmonize with each other. There are spiritual truths that go

against the material truth. Let me prove that. In Hebrews 11:24-27, it says –

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy thepleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.”

Moses has rejected the pleasures of sin for a season because he was after eternal life.

It is very clear in the verse, there are pleasures of sin. That is physical truth, human

truth. When we sin, there is pleasure in our flesh. The flesh of human beings, without

the knowledge of God’s words and divine wisdom, has pleasure in sins. There is

pleasure in being drunk. There is pleasure in being addicted to drugs.

There is pleasure in marijuana. There is pleasure in fornication. There is pleasure when

you are out with another woman for the first time after you have been encapsulated in

the arms of the woman you first loved for the last 20 or 30 years. For the first time you

go out with another woman, there is pleasure in it. So, the Bible tells us something very

important and true. There is pleasure in sins; that is physical truth, human truth. But it

doesn’t harmonize with spiritual truth. The pleasures of the flesh are against God,

against the Spirit of God. Let us read –

(Galatians 5:17) “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”

So, we know in our being deep inside us that the Bible speaks the truth. You can notice it by your own experience. After sinning, there is something in our being that makes us regret. After sinning, after having had enjoyed the pleasure of sin, there is in us, in our conscience that tells us that what we have done is not good. It is against the pleasure of our flesh.

I believe in the Bible with all my heart. Because it tells me what is deep inside my being. No other book on earth can tell us what is deep inside our hearts. The Apostle Paul is having a confession before the First Century Christian Church –

(Romans 7:19-20) “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”

This is such a wonderful confession from a very straightforward and frank person in the Bible, the Apostle Paul. He’s not after being admired by people in the flesh; he’s not after attaining glory in the flesh. In fact, he is revealing the dishonor in his flesh. But he’s teaching us spiritual truth that what is pleasurable for the flesh is against the spirit; it is against God.

I hope you will believe in the Bible and try for yourself. Remember, the Bible has two kinds of truth – the divine and the human, the spiritual and the physical. Regarding the subject matter, we’ll be indulging in more lengthy discussions in the future, God willing. But in the meantime, I want to hear from you after reading this blog. Your comments, suggestions, and the added information that you know give me an inspiration to go on even how tired I am.  I, thank you.

Sincerely in Christ,

Brother Eli Soriano

  1. Magnificent Bro Eli, I believe all you have said Brother Eli that there are truth that cannot be seen but still those are truths. Most Scientists depend only on things which can be seen thats why most of them do not believe in the existence of God. Can i called them as an Atheist also bro Eli? Now are reading your blog about Jehova Witness, what kind of witnesess are they? Im sure im gonna like your blog about their rude doctrines.

because he has a pleasure to raise a dog.

but once he brought it , his duty start.

    a duty called RESPONSIBILITY.

in order to give the dog called LIFE.

but his freedom lays a responsibility.

a responsibilty to care and protect his master who brought his life.

  5. No blog will match the blog that our Presiding Minister is writing. Not even the American preachers will ever give an in depth analysis and understanding about the words written in the bible like brother Eli is doing. I encourage the readers to link this blogsite into their social networking sites like multiply and friendster to encourage other people from different races to read and understand the words written in the bible through this blog.

  6. I strongly agree that there are two kinds of truth. The Divine Truth and the the human, the Spititual and phusical. Sometimes I do things that pleases my flesh but ending up regreting that I have done something wrong. What I want is an endless triumph and not a transitory success. That is for me the Divine Truth…

  7. Dear Bro. Eli,

We thank God for building up the perfect love in our hearts.. The true love of God.
Thank God for giving us the joy in our hearts..

We love to see you again in person Brother Eli…
    someday.. somehow.. in God’s will..

May we always be in your heart always..
    And so do we.. ^_^

    Thanks for everything…

  8. Two kinds of truth – the spiritual and the physical. Yet other people take the spiritual meaning literally regarding the cutting away of the hand.

Thanks to God for another great wisdom being preached by Bro. Eli. o(^_^)o

  9. Yes Bro. Eli there is always the regret after committing a sin.How I wish I have not done those things. But as you have said, it is the sin the dwells that does it.That verse gives me courage not to do sin intentionally but to trust that God is merciful than i can ever imagine.Thank God for you bro Eli, you are a visible truth that speaks invisible truth.Pray for us always! & may God hear my prayers for you.

  10. Yes I believe with all my heart that human being has two important elements, the physical being and the spiritual being.I myself have experienced it.I will know if what I have done is not right because I can feel the reaction of my innerself that is telling me.It will tell you and you will feel uneasy and uncomfortable. It will tell you even not to do it again.Sometimes it will tell you that what is in your mind is not right,do not do it.

  11. I don’t normally do long reads. But this one is sure an exemption. Especially when the topic is all about TRUTH!

Imagine, forty two (42) mentions of the word “TRUTH” in just a single article? I mean, that’s just AWESOME!

Despite the undeniable advancement of human intellect or understanding today, as compared in the past times,

no sane person should arrogantly say that he has already known the WHOLE TRUTH and no more needs further learning from anyone.

Because in my opinion, most of the truths that many people know are just IRRELEVANT and TRIVIAL (physics, synthetic facts, whatever).

We need someone as STRAIGHFORWARD, as FRANK, and as PAUL-LIKE person —

to teach people the essential SPIRITUAL TRUTHS, straight from The Bible.

And as Bro. Eli said …

“we’ll be indulging in more lengthy discussions in the future, God willing.”

😀 I’m hoping that the Almighty GOD will strengthens you more and more Brother Eli, both physically and spiritually.

We’ll all be waiting for more updates here on your blog. 😀

  12. Hi Bro Eli
Are human pleasure like eating also against the spirit? Is this the reason why, we could find fasting as a regular practice in the Bible?

  13. Gods’ truth inspires me in a million unspeakable ways.

Thanks be to God there is Brother Eli who continues to share with us God’s teachings.

He even took some time to blog in spite of his many other works during a day.

I pray that God will always keep you safe.

2 Cor. 4:16 “For this cause we do not faint; but though our outward man perishes, yet the inward man is renewed dat by day.”

  14. Bro. Eli, I would like to request a topic about the PHILIPPINES as a significant part of prophecies written in the bible.

  15. I understand your words with all my heart, Bro. Eli. I pray that God have mercy on me and help me. Thanks be to God for you and your blessedness.

  16. Bro Eli,

    thanks to be to God….
To God be the Glory forever….
this is really a great wisdom it is more than any worth of information about the TRUTH…..

It really touches my hearts and my soul…

    Bro Eli,
can copy and paste this blog and send to some of my friends for sharing?

    REVNED

  17. It is very wonderful to hear that there is someone like you bro. Eli that tells and explain the truth as it is. There are preachers that seems at first is telling the truth but when you
speak, they are exposed as nothing more than liars and false preachers who just want to be rich.Thank God that there is such a person who is sincere for others salvation and not just using people for their own profit.
May God always take care of you, and may give you good health and long life, so that other people may come to known the “real” truth and God’s enduring love for mankind.

  18. most people don’t trust the bible anymore, the catholic church is doing great in discouraging the members in reading the bible. they say it’s a compilation of biblical reflections.. a collection of stories which should not be interpreted by line but by the whole story in itself and i’ve listened to their interpretation of the “story” and they’re all wrong, i feel pity for my classmates and i feel pity for myself because i always fail to tell that what is saying is wrong, it’s because i’m not much good in oral debates and because i’m afraid i might say something wrong and cause even more trouble than help for my classmates.

even though i already know the verses and i’ve done my research which could easily prove them wrong, i still feel incomplete and feel like im not yet much against my philosophy teacher which is also a jesuit. im a catholic by the way but i hate their teachings. but i always find myself keeping quiet unable to talk… i hate it.

anyway, i have a friend whom i want to convince to read the bible, but he doesn’t trust it much because he’s not sure about the bible… i mean, he’s asking and now i want to ask too,

how did the compilation of the bible came to be?
i learned that they, whoever they were, chose which was “inspired” and which was not,
how can we know if they chose it right?

anyway, i love your blogs, i’ve read them and believe them all.

  19. TED (ted.com) defines its mission as “ideas worth spreading”.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one day, Bro. Eli Soriano will be lecturing there delivering his “spiritually inspired” ideas.

It’s going to be exciting to watch how Bro. Eli will be enlightening people such as this man who just didn’t consider the “element of time” and the “authority” in following God’s laws in our era:

I believe that Bro. Eli will find friends and lost souls to share the hope that is in him in that annual conference.

I miss you, Bro. Eli. You may not know me personally, but it has been more than a decade that I have been entrusting my soul to the words you have been preaching us. Onwards to perfection… God bless… =)

  20. Even as a young lass, at age 8, I have always heard and seen Brother Eli say the Truth and put the Truth in action.

What’s really amazing and wonderful is, I’m already 32, and the Truth that Brother Eli had said and continues to say is unfading, deeper, steadfast. The Truth that He shares/delivers with God’s people always has something new to give that is worth listening to, makes us stronger in faith, makes us realize how important we are in the eyes of our Father.

Indescribable. . . yet we feel the stunning effects in our lives.

To God be the glory! We thank God for giving us an instrument of Truth in your being, Brother Eli. We miss you. We love you.

  21. howdy brother Eli. i just attended the prayer meeting this time. i really liked your answer through brother Josel mallari regarding human cloning… btw, may i ask about those animal cloning… im aware that animals do have spirits… but what about those cloned animals who lived for atleast a year or more, do they jhave spirits? if yes, then where did it came from? from God? or just mere evil spirits?

  22. This is one of undeniable truth being rendered to us by the only sensible preacher in our time Brother Eliseo Soriano. I am so inspired in this post. Thanks again to God. Welcome back…

  23. Dear Bro. Eli,

When I read this article of yours, the “Four Way Test” immediately came in to my mind.

    —————————————————–
THE FOUR WAY TEST OF THE THINGS WE THINK, SAY AND DO:

    First, IS IT THE TRUTH?

Second, IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED?

Third, WILL IT BUILD GOOD WILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Fourth, WILL IT BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED?
    —————————————————–

Then considering all the chaos, lies, conflicts that are happening in this world, I asked myself….

What must a person possess in order to know the truth?

I see many people mislead, believing in something that is not true. At the same time those people thinks that I am also mislead, that what I believe is not true.

Although looking at the same thing (e.g. bible verse) there are different perception, different opinion, and different interpretation, mostly caused by mind conditioning, by environmental and social factors.

Does the determination of truth then depend on the person’s I.Q.? Or his ability to comprehend things presented to him? To rationalize things?

Boasting aside, I have the highest grade in Logic during my college days. And at that time, I came to a conclusion that it is a reality that there are some people that are “slow” to distinguish the illogical from the logical.

If this is the case, was it not that God gave this ability to each and every person on earth? With different level of ability to think? Why not have everyone created with high I.Q. or a mind that is very much capable of distinguishing things that are true and things that are not? Arguments that are valid and arguments that are not?

The ability to see beyond the mask, beyond the lies, beyond fallacies… is this not what we need to have?

But on the other hand, I see people with high I.Q. who reject the truth… claiming that what you present to them is not true.

With the things I learned from you, I learned that having a pure heart is needed to come to the realization of the truth. Although it is true that we don’t see people’s heart, I see people who are good citizens, husband, son, student etc. but rejects biblical truth.

Is it safe to conclude then that we need high I.Q. AND a pure heart? Or is there other things needed to come to the truth?

But if pure heart is also a requirement, does that mean that those who remains on their false belief after presenting the truth have evil hearts? Can they be changed? If they can be changed, what will cause the change? From them? Or from God?

I must admit these are leading questions to my own conclusions. Please correct my questions, statements, conclusions if there are errors in them.

Lastly, I am grateful that God has sent someone like you. Such a loving God we have. Amazing! Amazing! To God be the Glory!

  24. DOING SOMETHING WHICH IS WRONG OR SIN ACCORDING TO GOD’S LAW YET THE PERSON DOING IT HIMSELF/HERSELF UNDERSTANDS/FEELS IT’S NOT SIN AT ALL, DOES THIS PERSON STILL SIN IN THE EYES OF GOD? IS THERE TRUTH IN THE SAYING: THE MEANS JUSTIFIES THE END

  25. May the PEACE of the LORD be always with you Bro Eli, Bro Daniel. ministers, workers, and brethrens in the MCGI. Thanks for postin g once again very timely issues. For us who had the fortune of hearing the TRUTH from GOD through our leaders in the true CHURCH OF GOD, there is really no problem acknowledging THE ESSENCE OF TRUTH IN LIFE, whether natural or divine. In my humble small understanding, the natural and divine TRUTH exist and complement each other. Take JEREMIAH 30:19-And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry; and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few, I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. This verse is a prophesy about the NATURAL nad DIVINE TRUTH that is now revealed in the present status of the CHURCH OF GOD. GENESIS 3:19-….for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. Again this ios both NATURAL and DIVINE TRUTH, as gleaned from the absolute fact when man dies physically. Of course there are plenty more of the teachings from Bro. Eli and Bro Daniel.

  26. Thanks be to God that even though your tired and restless bro Eli, u have time to share with us the knowledge and wisdom you have. we truly are grateful to God for all your hardships, and sacrifices in life just to spread the words of God.

  27. Where else in this world can you find a true messenger of God? Nowhere! Bro. Eli, he is the only one sensible preacher on this earth. That is why those false prophets are trying to make use of their money to stop his preaching for the Truth. But sorry to them, for the Truth will prevail, God send bro Eli in our midst, as an instrument in spreading His Righteousness!

  28. Brother Eli we always thank God for giving us presiding ministers like you and brother Daniel. Through your tireless efforts to guide us to the path of salvation, we can feel the Father’s unconditional love for us lowly beings. Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gifts.

    ——-

as long as the person has already heard the laws of God, which for himself he thinks is not a sin at all, then he is sinning for he is not following what God has said. He is directly transgressing the laws of God, having heard that it is wrong but still he does it.

but if he has never heard of it, not once, then it is the ignorance of the laws of God, i’ve read that,

Rom 5:13 “sin is not imputed when there’s no law”..

if at some point, though he has never heard of the laws of God, he is doing what God said is a sin, he suddenly feels that he might be doing or have done something wrong, his conscience speaks, the witness of his sin.

“Rom 2:15 in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing them); ”

  35. Dear Bro. Eli,

This article reminded me, again, to reject the sinful pleasures of my body. Because of the truth God has sent to us, through you. My happiness has changed course, to serving God. Naturally forgetting all the hardships my flesh is going through. I’m so happy serving God.

Everytime I listen to God’s words, no matter how hot the weather is, or even if my flesh hasn’t had some sleep, and I haven’t eaten anything yet…It’s so easily to ignore all of those when I’m listening to God’s words you are delivering to His Nation brother Eli.

Bro Eli, I’m so thankful to God for taking care of you. Despite the wicked desires of many false preachers to harm you. All because of spreading the truth.

May God take care of you always.
