One of the many erroneous doctrines of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) is rebaptism. It implies that rebaptism is “baptizing again” someone who was baptized already in their church.
I am not against baptizing somebody in the true church if such person was baptized in another church with the person officiating the baptism not qualified to baptize in accordance with Biblical standards.
WHO CAN LEGITIMATELY OFFICIATE BAPTISM?
Guided by the Biblical standards that the law is good if used legitimately or lawfully, not everyone can officiate baptism to anyone!
I TIMOTHY 1:8 (King James Version)
But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
I TIMOTHY 1:8 (New Revised Standard Version)
Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it legitimately.
The laws of Christ or the laws for Christians took effect when the apostles received them after the ascension of the Lord.
THE ACTS 1:2
Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
The laws of Moses ended in Christ on the cross!
COLOSSIANS 2:14
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Christians will not be justified by the law of Moses!
THE ACTS 13:39
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
The laws of Moses are carnal ordinances destined to be done away!
HEBREWS 9:10
Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
The time of reformation is the effectiveness of the laws of Christ.
HEBREWS 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
The result is: we have now the Old and the New testaments!
HEBREWS 8:13
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Baptism was not commanded in the Old Testament times!
WHO IS QUALIFIED TO BAPTIZE?
The Lord Jesus commanded the apostles to baptize.
MATTHEW 28:19-20
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
The instruction is very clear, “teach all nations, baptizing them……” The persons commanded to baptize were also commanded to teach. And what are they going to teach?
“….all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” Therefore, he who has the capacity to teach all the commandments of Christ is qualified to officiate the true baptism.
Ministers of the SDA are not qualified to officiate true baptism because they do not teach people all the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ! One example is that they have replaced the law of Christ in “giving” by the law of tithing.
II CORINTHIANS 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Maybe you know the reason why they prefer tithing than voluntary giving!
The New Testament or New Covenant is very distinct from all laws in the past. Its focal point is the soul and the spirit – not the flesh only!
II CORINTHIANS 3:6-8
Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
II CORINTHIANS 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
While John the Baptist had baptized the Jews who believed, when the law of Christ took effect, all Christians were baptized under the law of Christ!
I CORINTHIANS 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
The one “body” wherein both the Jews and Gentiles were “all” baptized is the church!
COLOSSIANS 1:18
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Even the Jews were baptized in Christ in the church!
The allegation of Ellen G. White, that some of those who were baptized by John the Baptist were not baptized in Christ, is false!
(Seventh Day Adventist Church Manual 17th Edition p.43)
The following examples suggest that rebaptism may not be required. Evidently the instance of Acts 19 was a special one, for Apollos is reported to have received John’s baptism (Acts 18:25), and there is no record that he was rebaptized. Apparently some of the apostles themselves received John’s baptism (John 1:35-40), but there is no record of subsequent baptism. (Emphasis ours)
Paul had recorded it but unfortunately was not understood by Ellen G. White, I Corinthians 12:13, “…are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles”
In the body or the true church, under the Christian law, there is only one baptism taught by the apostles to the believers!
EPHESIANS 4:4
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism….
Never did the apostles accord another baptism in the same church or jurisdiction. Erring members committing sins that are not worthy of death are being admonished and prayed for, to merit the forgiveness of God, not rebaptized.
GALATIANS 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
JAMES 5:19
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
I JOHN 5:16
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
These teachings of Christ and the apostles were ignored by Ellen G. White and commanded her own idea to the members of the SDA to rebaptize an erring member!
(Seventh Day Adventist Church Manual 17th Edition p.43)
Apostasy and Rebaptism—Although apostasy clearly existed in the apostolic church (e.g., Heb. 6:4-6), Scripture does not address the question of rebaptism. Ellen G. White supports rebaptism when members have fallen away in apostasy and have lived in such a manner that the faith and principles of the church have been publicly violated. Then they should, in case of reconversion and application for church membership, enter the church as in the beginning, by baptism. (See pp. 199, 207.)
“The Lord calls for a decided reformation. And when a soul is truly reconverted, let him be rebaptized. Let him renew his covenant with God, and God will renew His covenant with him.”—Evangelism, p. 375. Clearly what is referred to here is not a recurring spiritual revival in a believer’s experience, but a radical change in life.
These teachings of Ellen G. White are against the Gospel of Christ! There is no pronouncement, even once, by Christ and the apostles to “baptize again” or rebaptize erring members! Poor SDA members! They were given by their prophetess a chance to fall away in apostasy or to err grievously, have a vacation for an indefinite time and then enter again in their church at will, “enter the church as in the beginning, by baptism” according to Ellen G. White.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

@pbs: if you want to choose the right religion, here are some steps: I dont want to be in favor of any religion in here so you have to exercise the freedom that God given you, i believe every religion has its own rule for Gods proclaimation of the Gospel, meaning God give them a purpose to exist like you… we cannot condemned them that they are WRONG and they are worshipping satan just like some who could easily to manage to say that, that lead to argument and fighting, nobody knows yet who will be save and who will not be save in the end? are you?!… first of all, out of the debate and arguments here i read… I never across of the definition of RELIGION in here, so lets define. Religion is from the latin word “ligare” meaning to tie,to bind,to connect religio or piety that is something an act of REVERENCE to God. So you couldn’t find the CHURCH here that bible defines as ‘ecclessia” or a group, fellowship which we simply define now as common” Religion” which is very far from its meaning that is Building or etc. on the other hand, if you look for a right religion start praying to God now, ask Him and He will answer you for the meaning of the religion is reverence to God, your personal relationship to HIm, but how will you start and where? do you have any idea? If you haven’t experience doing the right worship, try to read Gods word or the bible, that is the exact tool for you to experience God, and God will lead you if you sincerely pray and ask His guidance. Well…I’ve read too much about having so great leaders today. And imploring for help to choose the right religion! Where is your god to guide during your lifetime? Where is your God to help you choose the right religion? Haven’t you said that the true religion is Jesus? Well…now tell me the name of your church, because this church has a name, isn’t it? Don’t talk against the adventists if you don’t know the doctrine well, and even you are imploring for guidance because in that church, you don’t take the time for reading the Bible, the prophecies and the doctrines of the SDA Church! I don’t know the brother Eli (or so called) and I don’t understand his acting against adventists. You talk about the love of God, about Jesus Christ but are just words. And I really doubt the love of Jesus reigns in your hearts, because one of the commandments of Jesus was “Love your enemies” and You all see us as enemies. I could talk about our catholic brothers or baptist, mormons, Jehova witnesses, and so on, because I have read their doctrines, and talk to many of them personally. But Jesus says to me to act not like that.And it is no fair currying others favor on criticizing some others. Just think about it and act as the Word of God commands you. The day will come and it will be soon, the real christians shall decide to follow the Word of God just as it is written or follow the man sayings on the Word of God (misinterpretations). Jesus says to you today to look for the truth, and He is the truth and Life, and the key to know Him in the right way is in the Bible. By the way, we don’t follow Ellen White’s teachings but Jesus’ teachings. She is not necessary for our salvation but Jesus. He is the Salvation, our Rock and Pillar of our creeds and doctrines. Amen.

This blog is baseless and has a lot of flaws biblically. I am not defending the SDA’s but I just want to be fair. It is very obvious the Bro. Eli only wants to make an issue with the SDA’s or to put a chaos or shake them a little. But sadly this will have no bearing or impact at all if you try to think the whole context of this blog.
First notice that the title is already misleading. Did the SDA’s baptize people in the name of Ellen G White? So ridiculous that a man like this has said something so baseless! LOL. If ever a pastor would mention it during the baptism, dont you think the people being baptized won’t notice it? All Christians know that only through the blessings of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit will someone be baptized. I’ve heard a lot of baptism officiated by SDA pastors but they dont ever mention EGW name with it.
It is very obvious that Bro. Eli just want to make a trash out of the Decalogue, The Moral Law or the Ten Commandments by attaching the name of Ellen White on it. Only people who don’t think will be misled by such ridiculous statements. Imagine Bro. Eli saying that there’s no law anymore? Where in fact Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” Bro Eli knows that what was done away in the cross was the ceremonial law or the sacrificial of the lambs since Jesus would be the atonement for all the sins and these sacrificial system was even before been spoken by the prophets to be done away.
Romans 6: 15 – What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Apostle Paul still acknowledge the existence and importance of the Ten Commandments in our moral life. Can you imagine that if we say the Decalogue was already been nailed to cross? Is stealing, lying, killing, worshipping to other Gods, coveting, etc… permitted already??? I would believe that by saying this Bro. Eli is not showing his Christian behaviour. THE TRUTH IS THAT ONLY IN ONE COMMANDMENT IN THE DECALOGUE THAT BRO. ELI WANTED TO TRASH… AND THAT IS “THE SEVENTH DAY BEING THE BLESSED DAY FOR WORSHIP”… That’s all! So it is not logical to use all the verses above when you are trying to disapprove the ten commandments. And nowhere in the bible is mentioned that these Laws will be removed. Jesus even made them better. For He said he will write in in our hearts and minds so that we will live by it, the blessings of following His commandments (John 14:15).
The Sabbath observance existed before the Israelites. No question about that. The question is can you find in the bible word by word that God said Saturday Sabbath is now Sunday? Jesus Christ even in His death respected the sacredness of Saturday. He even warn his disciples about the persecution that will happen even in the Sabbath Day. He emphatised the importance of it! The sabbath is a day which reminds us that God is the creator of this universe and we are to worship Him. The devil has made a counterfiet on it. For we all know that we are now in the Great Controversy where war on worship is being wage by Lucifer.
My advice to the readers is.. Seek the truth diligently…Know why Bro Eli words sometimes contradict with what the bible is telling. Search the origin of Sunday Worship. The persecution of Early Christians…I believed Bro Eli knows these things. He just dont want to share these things to you…

i am proud to say i am a Seventh-Day Adventist and that i am not shaken by this blog…i tell u eli followers to scrutinize the blog first before commending such and commenting against SDA’s. let me tell u this:
1. the title itself is a false accusation. i challenge u, if u can prove that adventists baptize in the name of ellen g. white, then i might think twice why i belong to this denomination.
2. the title isnt what the content is telling..if u didnt notice that, read again. i tell u, if u know logic, it is such a fallacy! and it’s so ridiculous that eli’s writing skills fail. how can a preacher u look up to be considered credible when what he writes isn’t what he wants to convey. what he’s merely telling is : to not be an SDA but be his follower..
3. we dont worship ellen g. white. we are just guided by her counsels unlike u who just believe what eli tells u without even looking whether what he says is true or not. u believe him when he tells u that ellen white’s writings are against God, now if he tells u to eat shit, would u do so?. i suggest, u better read ellen’s writings by urself.

Prov 9:12 says: “If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

Prov. 3:30 says: “Do not accuse a man for no reason, when he has done you no harm”
Eph. 4:31 also says: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

such statement is like the pharisee’s prayer that goes: “i thank u Lord that i’m not like that gentile”

7. we Seventh-day Adventists do not claim we are righteous because we, human beings, are susceptible to commit sin. we, from time to time, need to ask forgiveness. we are not to fight against eli or anybody else because fighting doesnt do any good. we should all come together to worship God. i just hope that we all read the bible and pray to God. being Christians, we must follow what Jesus Christ set us as example – prayerfulness, humility and all the good values. after all, we are not judged by whatever religion we belong. we are to have direct relationship with God!

I guess telling people to eat —- is also very christian even saying it in the manner you presented it, since we are to not allow such things out of our mouths. We are not even to mention such things.
What I see here though is the enemy using God’s people against each other. Firstly we are to pray for each other continually so the DEVIL, doesn’t take us captive, looks like some are already there. Calling Ellen G. white names, and you are supposed to be a christian, shouldn’t you love her so much with the love of Christ that if you thought she had some false teachings you would be praying for God to have mercy and deliver her and save her and vice versa for the SDA members against all other christians whom God has called and who is able to make them stand.

The SDAs are not to meddle with some groups whose author writes nothing but trivia… We are interested in the scholarly pressentations, not in a rubbish produced by some wanna-bes.
Again… study the Bible just as a normal-guided-by-God person would do. There is enough material given for serious christian-chosen-by-God people has left for us to be not misguided for the false teachers. Instruct yourself in the Word of God. Pray before and after every study session. Pray always. Get biblical and serious dictionaries, commentaries, original hebrew and greek versions of the Bible to study every word ans prove what is the very intencion of every written word. And then, only then, to see what the whole sentence is willing to say to us without taking out of context. This is how to be a sincere reader, this is how to be a real true seeker, this is the right way to lead us to the truth. May God let you find the truth, because I don’t see any piece of truth in this blog.

Simply because the fundament of the baptism is exactly the acceptance of the sinner to live a new life and start a transformation. When he comes back from apostasy a new baptism or a profession of faith is needed. I cannot see where this is against biblical truths. As far as I know original South Baptists do the same. Therefore this is not a doctrine “created” by EGW. It is a biblical fundament. Baptism is a public declaration of acceptance of the Truth that can only be ministered by men chosen by God to be the priests (pastors or elders or similar).
