Stop! Suicide Is Never a Solution, Period.

Bro. Eli,

Is it sin to commit suicide?

Sincerely,

Suicide is the only solution

Dear Suicide is the only solution,

Suicide is only for fools who do not believe in the power of God. In this world, we will experience tribulations. Things that make us feel uncomfortable are all around us. You are not the only person troubled.

(John 16:33) “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” .

I can say with confidence that my problems and responsibilities are far more greater than most people I know, but I live in hope because I have trusted that what I can not do can be done by my great God. He is greater than everything in this world.

(1 John 4:4) “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

Maybe, you can not see God but, He moves people and makes them instruments of His goodwill to help someone like you.

Believe in the power of prayer! Pray and you will find peace and solutions to your problems — whatever it is.

(Philippians 4:6-7) “Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” RSV

Committing suicide is idiotic. Normally, in all aspects of life, even in lower forms of being, like animals and birds, life is being defended and preserved. The ability to adapt oneself in an environment and special defense mechanism are present in almost all forms of life: teaching us that the preservation of life is a will of the divine Creator.

It is only God, and God alone, who has the unquestionable power to take life.

(Deuteronomy 32:39) “See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.”

He allows nobody to take life! A murderer, He condemns.

(1 John 3:15) “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”

He does not allow anybody to take life from another being, regardless of the intent or the excuse, anybody may assert. Even mercy killing or euthanasia is not an excuse.

euthanasia_cartoon.jpg

God is most merciful.

(Psalms 103:8) “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.”

To say that anybody is killing anybody because it is an act of mercy, is tantamount to claiming that you are more merciful than God — and it is foolish.

God deals with people not only in this life, but through the hereafter, and no human perception can see what God has in store for anybody. He may let somebody in this life suffer a little but, there is reserved for him: Happiness in that which is to come.

(1 Corinthians 2:9) “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”

(Revelation 2:10) “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days; be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”

(Revelation 21:4) “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

And He that promises all these things can not lie.

(Titus 1:2) “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began…”

Lazarus suffered all his life. Nobody on earth knows then what is in store for him, but it was revealed in the afterlife.

(Luke 16:19-25) “And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. “

Considering all these, and the dignity of the one who promised all these things, there is not an iota of reason for you to commit suicide. [digg+http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Stop_Suicide_Is_Never_a_Solution_Period]

  1. It is God who gave us our life and it is God who should take it away from us…. we do not have to commit suicide to escape our problems or frustrations.

Just like lazarus, he did not commit suicide despite of his condition in life. Bro. Eli is really a messenger of God.

  2. that is how we live life with, full of tribulations but hope on the other side of the world to come. God bless u Bro. Eli, and always take care wherever God will instrument you to go!

  3. everyone who commits suicide are lossers. no one see them as winners, they are quitters. The quote of Neil Young and then Kurt Cobain… “It’s better to burn out than to fade away” does not make sense for me. You better light a candle in the middle of darkness until your fuel runs out. It’s better to finish the race than to give up. It’s quite embarassing/disgrace and it’s really a big sin to commit suicide. Just think that there are millions of people who had a harder life than you but they still to continue and have hope in their pocket.

    in the end…
the good one will be the winners
the bad ones are the lossers and quitters of doing good things

which side do you want to take?
which place do you want to dwell?
    heaven or hell?

    🙂

  4. Yes it is true that:

It takes a months before a man die without food.
It takes a days before a man die without water.
It takes a minutes before a man die without hope.

But our Lord Jesus Christ said:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Matthew 11:29)

“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:30)

  5. to : Suicide is the only solution

common dude! you can make it!!! just do what the bible and bro. eli’s advise…read Philippians 4:6-7…this is one my favorite verse in the bible…4 sure you’ll feel relieved…just pray!

  6. Christ died for a Divinely CAUSE!

As one being taught by the word of GOD on CHRIST, commiting such act is an “act of foolihness”.

More Power to you Brother Eli

    GOD Bless in CHRIST

  7. Suicide do not solve the problem, it is the worst mistake a person can do in his life. Life is beautiful despite the tribulations we encounter if we have God in our life. I hope, with Bro. Eli’s advice, you will be enlighten.

  8. Personally committing suicide in the midst of a tribulation or problem is an act of a coward person escaping his problem committing suicide leaving his/her problem unsolved, which added more problems to his/her love ones left.

Be guided by the scriptures, the bible has all the answers in all our questions and God is so much powerful that He has all kinds of solutions for your problem be resolved JUST HAVE FAITH and TRUST.

Thanks be to God for a preacher such Bro. Eli who teaches us God’s teachings in the Holy Scriptures, may God always take care of you.! 🙂

  9. unfortunately. my friend who asked this question to you brother eli took his own life today… i was with him when he wrote this to your blog. im still in shock but i’m just letting you know that he was a believer in god and a listener of bro eli shows when we were in the philippines, he was suffering from depression and he had been on medication for a mental illness for years. …. please pray for his soul and may god understand his predicament and his action

  10. indeed! Suicide Is Never a Solution…
would you believed, i myself once commited suicide? i used “good morning towel” to thight on my neck, when i was in the stage of exploring things in life? i was HS then… i was so frustrated about the treatment of my mother , but then i realize when i cant breath, why should i do that? after all it will never solve the problem, it will just add more problem of our family… after doing that, i just laugh at my self! and think…
then i realize, God will never give u a problem that u cant carry through…

Reading this article was so enlightening to my soul…
tnx brother eli for such a good article…
may God guide you always and your family…

  11. they say believing in god is a solution. if god can’t extend help to the starving children in africa who are dying, how can he help you christians to solve your problems. it’s arrogant for christians to think they can surpass all the problems because god is with them…

the only people who can really understand their problem is themselves. if they find themselves in a situtation where they could no longer deal with problems. its their choice to end their suffering….. the life that they didn’t choose. they were forced to live that kind of life by the circumstances that they happen to be in……….. a person who was suffering from pain should be released from pain. THAT MERCIFUL act. i don’t see the point why god would let him live for more years when this person is in DEEP AGONY. i will take my own life if life is no longer bearable for me. that’s a BRAVE ACT.

  12. I would like to see more understanding from the chruch world, and not to make such a broad statement about suicide, I know that if the chruch had more understanding more people that are suicidal would come to God with this problem. And how depressed a person can become, sometimes to no fault of ther own sometimes a person can be giving a very bad hand in life, but the chruch would like to say to all come to God and all will be well, I just don’t think so, and I don’t think God would say so. I wish the chruch could do justice BUT LOVE MERCY. And to say just have FAITH AND TRUST GOD and all will be OK, you just don’t know.

I think the chruch needs healing, for to say are suggest that a person is weak in anyway because he R she would take there own life is sick. A person that may take there own life does not get up one day and say I will kill my self, it is a long process and that person has most likely, looked long and hard for an answer yes some even in the chruch, to only here you say, you need more of God, how cruel.

Chruch wake up and truly help the mentally ill.

May God have marcy on all of us..

  13. it is such an enlightening article..

however, it was disappointing to know that the one who asked the question — one reason why this blog came out — still took his own life (according to his friend, joel sy, who also gave his comment on this blog). whatever his reason was, i pity him..

and to that guy who said that suicide is a brave act (“it takes one to know one”) — you’re pathetic! how dare you question your Maker!! it is He who knows everything and what’s best for everyone.. only, it is granted at a time that’s best for us.. how could you consider it a brave act? that’s cowardice! running away from problems instead of facing it.. suicide spells giving up! that’s what you call a brave act?!

what do you know about agony anyway? you know nothing of what humans go through, in the real sense.. therefore, you have no right to conclude that God does not do anything to help..

i hope that the day will come when you finally realize that suicide is never a solution..

and i hope the day will never come when you never do realize it and give up, believing it is the only brave thing to do.. when it really isn’t at all..

i believe in God.. that faith is enough to keep me standing up regardless of how many times i stumble.. because i know He is our only hope…

  14. pare, ( to-> 8 takes one 2 know 1)

try to love urself a little, u might don’t imagine where wud u go wen ur last breath wud stop…

    repent and ask 4givness b4 it’ll be 2 late 4 u..

    may God touch ur heart!!!

    GOD BLESS!

THANK’S BE TO GOD BRO ELI for this blog…
we miss you so much! GOD BLESS U ALWAYS

    Dxnkat

  15. “…if the chruch had more understanding more people that are suicidal would come to God with this problem.”

Do you expect others to emphatize with you when you just made such an all-encompassing judgement on a group of people with a different point of view from yours? You might as well say that all Chinese are dogs just because they do not speak English.

It is unfortunate that some people take their lives or wish to, not questioning why they even thought of doing so in the first place. But to make people who fight every day with their every breath to live, feel bad because you want to die, is something you have to start thinking about.

By the way, I HAVE been there and done that so yes, it takes one to know one. That is why I am telling you this.

  16. To all (Joel Sy) I have keep an eye on this blog, and I am so sad about the christian world, not one person as reached out to Joel Sy not one person has told him is friend is OK NOW. All I see is cruel judgment. And to josepherdon, to say that someone who takes his life is a losser this less then a man and he knows nothing and is just a sorry sorry less then human. This is so SAD. How many of you have got off your but to help one person sufferering from mental illness.

To Joel Sy, My heart and prayers are with you, and I thank God for his mercy for your friend, who I’m sure your friend is with the Lord now, and no longer suffering. Be sure God is with you and your friend. And may God help you in this time of pain. PS Your friend was and is not a losser. Thank God

  17. It sad to know that the one who ask this question had already commited suicide but still i thank God for using bro. Eli to send His message to us not to loose hope if we ever experience hardship in life. But to trust God’s mercy and kindness.

Thanks be to God, TO GOD BE THE GLORY for ever and ever Amen.

  18. let’s just pray for his soul.
god is merciful, im sure the person he’s now in heaven looking down on us

  19. yes, it’s better to die than to live in suffering
i suffer from an incurable sickness and i’m in agony, i m going to kill myself now

  20. smile!!!! life is so miserable without hope…im glad God never cease to give us hope… we are not just looking.Just look up!!!

  21. It is very enlightening and helpful to people in despair… I, myself, during times of miseries are disturbed by thoughts of giving up, even suicide, but a thought comes to my mind that stretches my patience and endurance. If I committed suicide, all the sufferings I had in the past would come to nothing just because of one act. Let’s just hang on even when we don’t seem to see anything positive at all. Our visions are limited, but God sees farther ahead than us…

  22. To Mia:

The more the agony we experience here, the more the mercy we shall receive from God in the after life… Let’s just think it that way… God is very merciful…

  23. Mia, I hope you are still with us, your life has so much inportance to all and all that love, reach out to someone for help please. God help us all.

  24. To joseph sy, others who are symphatetic to people who want to to commit suicide , I can only pray for you and wish that satan would not enfluence you. Reading the bible would remind us that the apostle judas escariot commited scuicide by hanging himself. Nobody from the group of JESUS CHRIST nor from their detractors praised judas as a brave person for ending his guilt by suicide. To many Christians, including me before becoming a member of the Church of God, judas deserved such death, for being a traitor to the SON OF GOD, HIS TEACHER, JESUS CHRIST. Now I understand that those who commit suicide are people who lost hope and faith in GOD so much so that it is easier for satan to take over and fool them into commiting suicide. True believers never loss hope in GOD even under the most trying moments and in the end their problems are solved. Tri-media have many stories for so long, many times, how people cling to their faith and eventually saved their lives and solved their problems. GOD is the sole giver of life, and in the same manner, only HE can take back life again. 1SAMUEL2:6-The Lord killeth, and maketh alive; he bringeth down to the grave , and bringeth up. HEBREWS11:30-For we know him that hath said, vengeance belongeth unto me…If you want some more verses, Bro Eli has plenty of them for your satisfaction. GOD IS GREAT.

  25. Suicide is not the answer to the problems.
It will only cause of adding sins to sins.

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
    Isaiah 30:1
    King James Version

  26. suicide is not an answer to the problem that we encountered in this world, the best we can do is to belief in God’s word and listen to the messenger of God no other than bro. Eli Soriano

  27. Bro Eli,
I think depression is common to all and self pity especially if one feels that he is alone and no one care and no one to listen. Although I understand normal causes of depression, and believe on what the Bible say but I have to admit that there are also some that are not normal such as moments and times that one is not in the mood which I think is happening to all but of different degrees. What is the cause? I ask this because even I am not thinking of anything and I know that I don’t have any problem to worry about but I wonder that the feeling of sadness just come all of a sudden. Why? What is the scientific and Biblical explanation to depression and how to overcome it? If sadness is suddenly felt what is wrong even if you don’t think, it will just come unnoticed? Is it the work of an evil spirit? If so, how evil spirits influence the mind and/or the moody behavior of depression of any person? There are also instances that one becomes so sensitive and there is a sudden change in attitude that occurs instantly especially in women. What is this? Is it also related to body metabolism? Kindly explain in a very simple way scientifically and Biblically to be easily understood by all. Understanding the source of depression and how to overcome in simple ways as you can explain with the help of God Bro Eli will minimize and/or avoid suicide attempts. Thanks a lot Bro Eli and best regards.

  28. Bro Eli,

I think I maybe referring in #39 about the changes in mood or behaviour as the Bipolar Disorder – a scientific term that I just read from the Internet right now that this is not only limited to adult but also happening to children and teens. In the article, I read that the real causes are not yet known or science is not yet certain but there are some assumptions made which may or may not be true. Now, if the causes are not certain in science, I believe that the Bible has to say for the cause and remedy.

Additionally, I would request and suggest for the benefit of all if I may please Bro Eli expound on all others phenomena in human nature like walking while sleeping at night and etc. that people are not aware or have no control while these phenomena are happening to them including the Biblical remedy on what affected people have to do? Thanks and regards.

  29. Dear Suicide is the only solution:

Back then in 1994, I was in avery troubled state. I was wallowing in alcohol addiction. I was such a smoker, and worst I sufferred a traumatic relationship with a lady I dearly love. I was about to commit suicide then, because I thought that there is nothing in store for me. I was really broken hearted. I was about to take large doses of medicine then. But then, as if somebody whispered to me to stop… and I came to my senses.
Truly the pain will linger for some time, but believe me it will vanish after a considerable period of time.
Have I been so foolish to commit suicide, I wouldn,t have seen two beautiful daughters God has given me. A wife and a good job. Most of all, I was able to know God through the preachings of the only sensible preacher of our time, Bro. Eli Soriano.
Just take it easy and pray unceasingly.

To God be all the glory!!!

  30. I appreciate all the effort put in in declaring the goodnews of God,which i have been reading ever since. I am a very financialy poor young man. Pls i want to kindly help me and my yonuger brother who have been nurturing the plan to commite suicide. Pls help us. May God be with you & energise you more.

    Rowland

  31. It is true that we should not lose hope. I had also experience a great depression in my life and my mind was filled with thought of committing suicide. But then when I remembered that there are more things to be done, more great things to be done for the glory of God, I just kneeled down and prayed. And God gave me peace of mind.

Never lose hope guys! God is good. He will give the BEST!

  32. I never stop believing before even how hard life is, hoping that one day He can hear my prayers. Just this year another problem came and the only thing that I can do is to accept it. I almost did that stupid thing but something happened that stops me,I’m not sure if that is God’s way. I promised to myself that I will not commit that act but each day of my life, I do wish that He will take this life of mine coz i dont want it anymore, I’m so tired of it, tired of enduring the pain, tired of hoping. Easy to say that suicide is not the answer, right? God is not good to us.

  33. I agree that people who commit suicide do add problems to others and it is an act of cowardism. God will pull through for them. But what about people in a coma? Or people who are terminally ill? Do we wait and pray that they get better? Or do we give in to their requests of ending the suffering? In this case I don’t think it is cowardism, perhaps they merely want to get it over with.

    Any ideas on this?

  34. absolutely….its easy to say that God endured this, he is there, and its a sin to commit the act….but who are we to judge the tribulations of those around us…who are we to say that if God endured it than you should too, or if you don’t God will not exist for you….some people are not as easily apt to have that strong never wavering faith in God and life, some are in the lows of lows and sometimes have no way out…for them is it right to judge that they were stupid and too weak to live out in suffering… for us we could judge but we should not… for those of us lucky enough to have that faith all we can do is hope that God has the power to change their mind or that God sees through it all and speaks to them. Because we may say there are many others suffering more but do we think of those people??? All we can do is pray and hope and look out in our lives for those who need that hand out of the dark surrounding them.

Suicide is the end… Faith and Hope is the beginning…
    Giving some one a hand …is a fresh start…

May suicidal thoughts cease to exist as we help each other striv e towards the faith in God and the shelter he brings to our lives….

  35. It is very true that sucide is never a solution teens and kids under go some trauma and take this stupid decision and try to end their life without facing the actual world and think nobody understands them that could be some time true but parents should try to figure out it at first place and should find some adolescent residential treatment program that could help their kids

  36. This is a good source of information about suicide. I agree that it should never be an option when a person in resolving problems. “Euthanasia” or “mercy killing” should not be an excuse to take one’s life. Amen to this a 100%!

  37. Some people resort to suicide because of their hoplessness. But this blog could be instrumental in putting the suicide rates to a steady decline. Will share this. Thanks be to God for caring for mankind the way you do Bro. Eli. We are grateful for you.

  38. God is the most merciful being, Only make sure you love Him and what ever may happen to you, even if you think you don’t deserve it, still it will for your own goodness Acts 8:28
