If I Were The President

Sometime in the past, I have experienced to be a president of the PTA (Parents and Teachers Association), of a business corporation, and of the board of directors of the Church.  I know the broad responsibilities of a president, and the burden of dealing with people of different interest and aspirations.  The Apostle Paul, being the administrator of the Gentile church, said:

2 Corinthians 7:5; 11:28

For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears…

…beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

While trying to please everybody….

1 Cor. 10:33

Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

….he became the enemy of people who were not inclined to believe and receive the truth.

Gal. 4:16

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

A leader that insists on the truth cannot please everybody!

John 8:46

Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

The truth remains: A leader or a president is a leader to those who like and dislike him.

Philippine President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and the advocates of House Bill 5043 known as the “Reproductive Health Bill” are being threatened to be excommunicated by the Catholic Church.  This is a clear indication that churches in the Philippines have propensity in interfering with government affairs in direct violation of the provision of the constitution regarding the separation of church and state.  The influence of powerful religious groups, one of which is the “Iglesia of Manalo”, is also a manifest violation of such provision; specifically, if the appointing executive was made to believe that he won because of the support of these influence peddlers.

On Target : Iglesia ni Cristo displeased with P-Noy?

PRESIDENT Noy, in his search for people to fill up key positions in his administration, has allegedly displeased a religious sect that supported him in the last election.

Iglesia ni Cristo’s Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo has allegedly written the President to ignore all his recommendees for some positions in government, according to a source close to Ka Eduardo, as he is known to his flock.

The source claimed that Ka Eduardo had said in his letter that the INC was freeing the President from the pressure of considering people recommended by the church for certain posts in his government.

My source inside the INC said there were positions that Ka Eduardo had asked P-Noy to fill up with persons from the ranks of the INC, but such requests were allegedly ignored.

The source added that the INC head had said that those whom P-Noy has appointed to key positions upon his recommendation can either be removed or they can choose to resign.

One of INC’s recommendees is Director Magtanggol Gatdula of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The source said the religious sect’s withdrawal of support from the Aquino administration is expected to have grave political repercussions for the fledgling administration.

If I were the president, I would first consider that I am not a president only of the Catholics nor of the Iglesia of Manalo, but of the entire Philippine populace.

If I were the president, I would be thankful if the Catholic Church excommunicates me!

If I were the president, I would be thankful that the leader of the Iglesia of Manalo recalled for his suggested appointees to high positions in government.

If I were the president, I would rule the country in accordance with the constitution and the dictates of my humane conscience.

May God guide the president!

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
His ways are not our ways……Psalm 25:5

  4. If I were the President of the Philippines, I will not follow the footsteps of the previous President – Gloria Macapagal Arroyo:

This story was filed by CBS News’ Barnaby Lo in Manila.

Barely three weeks before a national election, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has appointed two of her personal staff to key government posts, including her manicurist.
Anita Carpon, previously in charge of the president’s cuticles, has been named a member of the board of trustees of the Home Development Mutual Fund, a government body that loans millions of dollars for housing.

Arroyo’s gardener, Armando Macapagal, was earlier named as deputy of the Luneta Park Administration, the country’s national park.

Here some 20 corruption scandals involving the previous administration for investigation including the Hello Garci election scandal..

The Truth Commission revealed on Friday it may look into more than 20 corruption scandals, such as the C-5 road controversy, the botched NBN-ZTE deal, and the multimillion-peso fertilizer fund scam.

At a press conference, retired Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr., chairman of the five-member commission, said they have asked Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile Jr. information on previous investigations conducted on these issues.

“One of the latest resolutions promulgated by the commission requests the president of the Senate to provide the commission with information on Senate investigations in aid of legislation of cases involving large-scale graft and corruption committed during the previous administration, including, but not limited to the NBN-ZTE scandal, the fertilizer fund scam, and the C-5 scandal,” Davide said.

Davide added that the commission is still setting up the criteria for what constitutes large-scale graft and corruption that may be investigated by the body.

Among the scandals that the truth body may look into are:

the $329-million national broadband network (NBN) deal — the “Philippine National Broadband Network controversy” (also referred to as the NBN-ZTE deal) involved allegations of corruption in the awarding of a US$329 million construction contract to the Chinese telecommunications firm ZTE for the government’s proposed National Broadband Network (NBN) project.

The contract with ZTE was signed on April 20, 2007 in Hainan, China. After news broke out about alleged irregularities, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo cancelled the National Broadband Network project in October 2007. On July 14, 2008, the Supreme Court dismissed three petitions questioning the constitutionality of the national broadband deal, saying the petitions became moot when the NBN project was cancelled.

the P728-million fertilizer fund scam — this political controversy involves accusations that former Agriculture Undersecretary Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante diverted a P728-million fertilizer fund to the 2004 election campaign of Arroyo.

the C-5 road controversy — Senator Manuel Villar, a real state developer and Forbes Magazine’s ninth richest Filipino in 2009 with a net worth of $530 million, was accused of using his power to realign the C-5 road project for the benefit of his companies. Villar earlier denied his involvement in any wrongdoing connected to the C-5 road project. GMANews.TV tried to get the reaction of Villar but his staff said he is out of the country. His office might release a statement within the day.

“Hello Garci” election scandal — in this controversy, a woman perceived to be Arroyo, and a man, perceived to be former Elections commissioner Virgilio Garcillano, discussed the alleged padding 2004 election returns in favor of Arroyo. Their wiretapped conversations were later made public. The recordings of these conversations were called by the media as the “Hello Garci” tapes.

IF I WERE PRESIDENT NOY NOY AQUINO, I WILL ASK BROTHER ELISEO SORIANO TO BE MY SPIRITUAL ADVISOR.

  5. “If I were the president, I would first consider that I am not a president only of the Catholics nor of the Iglesia of Manalo, but of the entire Philippine populace.

If I were the president, I would be thankful if the Catholic Church excommunicates me!

If I were the president, I would be thankful that the leader of the Iglesia of Manalo recalled his suggested appointees to high positions in government.

If I were the president, I would rule the country in accordance with the constitution and the dictates of my humane conscience.” – Bro. Eli.

By so doing, if Bro. Eli were the President, he would be able in effect to fulfill what previous presidents had failed to do as mandated, i.e. – “… to implement the law without fear or favor … and do justice to every man … and to God be the glory”!

  6. Being in the highest position of our country… P-noy must consider the power that he will give to anybody, for POWER AND MONEY blinds sometime…

  7. May God guide president Noynoy. He did well in dealing with typhoon Juan. If Gloria had done the same during typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng, many lives could have been saved. May God bless you always Brother Eli. Thanks be to God.

  8. well.. if god really permits at this moment i want u to be the president!bro.eli!
to rule the hard headed and corrupt govt. officials and all the filipino who criticize our present president who’s only aim is to do his obligation in truth and all his best..
pls let us give a chance p-noy! in the long run after marcos ruled…no perfect pres. seated for many years now! all are corrupt!!!..except the late pres. cory aquino..

  9. It is not because of the Church of Manalo why P-NOY is in his current position as a president of the Philippines right now but it is because of God. PROVERBS 8:15

By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

    And in JOHN 19:10-11

Then said pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? Knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

I hope that P-NOY will not use wrongfully the power that God gave him…

  10. so happy that you are not the president of our country, because God has an astonishing plans for you ~ to be our preacher!!! I enjoyed reading your blog posts.

  11. ahh…. imagine our country being ruled by a God-fearing, honest, fair,non-materialistic president. but the pressure for you bro eli would be a lot greater.

  12. Bro. Eli .. I strongly agree with your ‘If I were the president … ‘
If P-Noy would follow this ‘suggestion’ or whatever you may call this, he would be tracking the ‘Tuwid Na Landas’ he was talking about during election days. It has been long overdue that a leader in the Philippines stands for what is right and for the good of the entire Filipino people and not only of the few whimsical frauds who take glory on their wealth that who knows where they got it from or how they got it.

Go P-Noy! The silent majority of Filipinos or shall I say ‘silenced majority’ are behind you (silenced for a long time by some bigots in the past admins). Hopefully with P-Noy’s leadership unheard voices before will be heard now .. keeping my fingers crossed.

    May God guide you P-Noy.

  13. that’s a lot of things to consider though, but, in this life, only GOD, THE FATHER IN HEAVEN, ALMIGHTY, will declare his will, as we pray, may we stick to one thing, hold on to what he promised to us!!!! AMEN .

  14. What??? The Catholic Church excommunicates? “Wehhh… meron na?”

I never heard of Catholics doing excommunication of their members when I was ‘such.’ I had done bad things- smoking, drinking intoxicating liquor, not attending in the ‘simbahan’ on Sundays, etc., but I was not excommunicated there. Never was I warned, nor suspended, nor even taught about excommunication. Maybe because I was not attending the ceremonies, hihi. But my grandmother was attending every Sunday, but she never told me about it. Maybe excommunication is for famous people only. Hump!

I agree to Bro. Eli saying, “If I were the president, I would be thankful if the Catholic Church excommunicates me!” I say AMEN! to that. There is salvation outside the Catholic Church.

And I won’t be bothered if I were the president because it’s not scary after all. There’s no big deal. They are not the true religion anyway. They are like casting the president a spell- an ineffective spell. ‘Blehhh!’ 😛

Good day to P-Noy. May God guide you!

P.S.- My grandmother and I are no longer Catholics and we are very thankful! To God be the glory!

  15. I agree with Bro. Eli..Thanks GOD for sending you to us…
MAy almighty GOD gives you more strenght..
    GOD BLESS YOU BRO. Eli.

  16. For sure, if Bro. Eli is the President of the Philippines, the Filipino people will experience a nation of true peace because many will be converted into a true Christian. As if, we’ve already seen Christ’ rule the nation. What a magnificent site.

If that happens, I bet, the Manaloss will again find ways and means to assassinate Bro. Eli. They will no longer sleep and they might even get to the point devouring him 24/7.

Thus, if I am President PNoy, I would take extra precautionary measures in order not to be influenced by these wealthy religious organizations who pretend to be influential.

He must take heed of the facts in the Bible that kings and leaders of nation, like him, is the target of the devils. Satan will not stop until his target succumbs to his caprice.

  17. proverbs 10:11, “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.” This is the only reason why if i were the president of the Philippines, Bro Eli would be my spiritual adviser.

  18. Imagine Bro. Eli being the President of the Philippines. It will be 0% Poverty, and this country might be the world’s most respected and the richest because of having a truthful president. Imagine the possibilities!

  19. May God Guide Pres. Noynoy. Amen. I hoped that members of the two religious groups could see sense on what Bro. Eli is saying in this article. Pres. Noynoy does not win the Presidential race just because of the vote of the two religious group but because of the vote of the Filipinos.

I also hoped and prayed that Pres. Noynoy could read this and be guided with Bro. Eli’s article.

  20. Glory to GOD in the Highest. Peace be with you Bro Eli, Bro Daniel, KNP’s/TP’s, workers, brethrens in the Church of GOD, and evrybody in this blog. If you were the President Bro Eli, you will have a big headache but an overwhelming support from the GOD-fearing Christian-Filipinos. Even at this time that you are not the President, you have already done justice, care, love, and true concern for the poor and the underprivileged, not withstanding the financial constraints, envy, and endless persecution by the wicked. Bro Daniel through the inspiration of Bro Eli has embarked on many free services for the poor; free bus and jeepney rides, free medical and dental care complete with medicines and consultation, free legal services, free use of transient homes, etc. from the Church of GOD. Should a member of the Church of GOD become the President, the Pilipinos will enjoy a peaceful, happy, and progressive Christian life marked with equity and justice. free from corruption and abuses.

We love you Bro Eli, Bro Daniel, and brethrens. Where you are, there we are also. GOD bless you always.

  21. I hope somebody could send this directly to the president. Just like Bro. Eli, we all wish our president the best of luck!

  22. Hopefully, President PNoy reads also the Bible, more than any books that he acquires because in a world of craftiness, trickery, rejection and despair, the Bible offers hope and encouragement.

If I were him, I would try to listen to Bro. Eli, even just for a day to start with, to be truly acquainted with the Bible.

Though, he is a Catholic, he should open his heart and mind and discern whether the religion that he is into, is truly one from God.

  23. I hope PNoy read this article!!

    Question:Patungkol po noong nakaraang Pasalamat(sabado Oct 16, 2010)

yung tinutukoy po bang bagong langit at bagong lupa sa apocalipsis ay ang ikatlong langit o paraiso at lupang tinatahan ng Dios na nasusulat sa kawikaan 8:31

    Salamat po sa Dios

  24. President Aquino has a solemn pledge when he took over the duties and responsiblities of his current office to faithfully and conscientiously fulfill his duties as President of the Republic, and one of these duties is to preserve and defend the Constitution, and not any of the doctrines or edicts promulgated by any religious group in the country.

Thus, if I were him, I would show firm resilience in facing criticisms of leaders of these big religious groups in the country, the Catholic and Manalo churches, at all cost, just to keep on track on his so-called “daang matuwid”. It’s about time that the Filipino people should rise up, not against the tyranny of any colonial powers but against the powerful church organizations that dominate the country for centuries.

Ituloy po natin ang laban Ginoong Pangulo, sa awa at tulong ng ating Panginoong Dios.

  25. Amen! Thanks be to the very grateful God for this Blog that Bro. Eli made. And may the good Lord bless and keep you, Ingkong, wherever you are – what ever you do at ALL times. Ciao.

  26. Did not Jesus himself say “Give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s and give unto God what is God’s.” Surely this is a very clear instruction on the separation of Church and State and not just the issue of taxation! In my opinion, it doesn’t get any better than that!!

  27. If this blog reaches P-noy, i’m sure he will be encouraged to do better and be the President whom everyone respects because of integrity. These are sensible advices, especially coming from Bro.Eli.

    May God guide P-noy indeed!

Thanks be to God for the wisdom that God gave you Ingkong! I sincerely believe that you are God’s messenger🙂

we miss you and we love you.

  28. if I were the president I will serve for the interest of the filipinos as a whole . Thanks be to God there is Bro Eli who is clever enough to distunguished a group wherein the main interest is power and money .The Catholic church is not after the betterment of the people , please start cleaning your jurisdiction first because mostly corrupt officials of government are catholic member .

  29. All your voicing out is if you were a president… You don’t know yet how bitter to choose that position… you should reconsider… all you want is a perfect president… you not looking for the loopholes or a certain individual… and we all know that it is very hard to please anybody.

For those people who does not admit that they committed sin dont have the a place in the kingdom of God but for those sinners who admitted that they have sinned, God will forgive them and spare His Kingdom to them.

Problem is not part of our life, life is part of our problem.

    • Nimitz,

For your information, to say, “If I were President” does not outrightly mean that what he/she is looking for is a perfect President.

Of course, to be a President is not an easy job, especially for those who are narrow minded and is not open to suggestions and constructive criticisms.

  30. Yes, a leader cannot please everybody. And he does not have too. A leader sees something which the unthinking mob does not see.

As Gandhi said, at first they will ignore you, they laugh at you, then they will fight you, and you will win them to your side.

Thank you for sharing your ideas.

  31. If Brother Eli the president of the Philippines this country would experience a kind of leader is has net experienced in its entire existence as a country. Good governnance, firm leadership and non-partisan kind of government is what this country need.

  32. nah… I dont want Bro Eli to be our President… that responsibility will be added weight for Him… imagine the problem of the whole congregation is His problem even the problem that is not for him. and take note the church is worldwide its more than enough for the problem of any president of this world. he manage to handle it… then he will be our president? i dont think so…
Thanks be unto God for us having Bro Eli

    • I disagree! With God, everything is possible. He could make Bro. Eli even more than a Superman.

Firstly, if Bro. Eli will be the Philippine President, he can be with us again and we’ll see him in person. Oh, how I wish I could hug him. That’s the wish of my husband too, huh!

Second, it could be easier for him to share the Words of God to the world leaders. Just imagine, he will be attending the meetings of world leaders, for sure, they will be spellbound and become curious about him, with his unparallelled knowledge of the Words of God which is not common with them.

Thirdly, the government of the Philippines will experience a paradigm shift from one of the most corrupt countries in the world into the non-corrupt one.

Fourth, primary necessities will be provided for free from the smallest details of the necessities of the Filipino people unto the biggest one. In fact, they’re doing it now already.

Fifth, majority will become true Christians which as a consequence, it will diminish criminal elements for they will be enlightened by the life of a true Christian ruler.

Sixth, there will be a genuine public service that can be experienced by the people as the church are already doing it now.

Seventh, God will heal the Philippines from all its illnesses and inequities and it will heal its lands too, and make it fertile. Foremost, the Philippines will experience a true Godly leadership.

  33. That’s why it said to be a good leader is to be a good follower,

In this world I dare any body to show me a person who spend his wealth, health and time in caring souls of people aroud the world.
I found no one compares to Brother Eli Soriano and Brother daniel Razon. To GOD be the glory!

  34. Nimitz ,we are not looking for a perfect president but we are not expecting for a corrupt incompetent president . Ask yourself why filipinos are going out of the country and becoming a domestic helper because if they wait for the help of the government we will all died in hunger. What makes me proud to a common filipinos are they have initiative they are not the burden to the country rather the officilas are the burden to our people. Im a filipino and Im aware of that pataasin daw ang kilay ko . Thats why they removed Joseph Estrada in Malacanang because He is for the poor people and the business sector and some corrupt officials are not agree with him. Joseph Estrad won the election with a highest votes and few greed officilas of the government removed him . Whats the purposed of election when at the end of the day the government will also be ruled by few group of individual who are after their own gain . Corrupt officials you will return to dust your power and fame will not last . I hope you realize it ! Ha Ha Ha !

  35. Instead of wishing Bro Eli to be our President, why not wish the other way around — to start with, let’s wish P-Noy hears the basic biblical doctrines of truth we abide by as members of the Church Of God and everything else will surely follow — the right way…

  36. Oh, how I wish Bro. Eli is the President! Para mawala lahat ng corrupt sa gobyerno! If Bro. Soriano becomes the leader of this country, this nation can stand proud again.

  37. if the leader of the country is of God,we can expect a harmonious relationship with each other even the situation of the country will turn to a very beautiful place to live…even Bro. Eli of the Ang Dating Daan wish to become a president.I think he is very qualified to that position, but uncertainly there is a lot of evil minds in the structure of the Comelec and surely they will stop him and through also the help of other religious group like three colors… How i wish Bro. Eli will be the President…i saw the programs of this group and i amazed so much how they serve our countrymen, specially the clinic ni Kuya,it helps a lot of our poor families who cant afford medical service fees and even the medicine, just imagine they gived them free, the Libreng Sakay…the free education for the poor…i cant say anything to this people but im very thankfull to him I know he has a True heart for the humanity…I wish you all the best!May our God bless you always!…

  38. Brother Eli can i ask about your opinion/position regarding the reproductive health bill? it is frequently discussed nowadays..
