A Scientific Way of Discovering Biblical Truth (Part 2)

blogbadge.jpg

This is the second installment of my article entitled “A Scientific Way of Discovering Biblical Truth”.

I do not claim to be an Apostle, an executive minister, or a ‘sumo pontifice’ (supreme pontiff), or a ‘supremo’ among those people who follow me in faith. I refuse to be called pastor, reverend or sir.

The word reverend was only used once in the King James Version of the Bible (KJV) to describe the name of the Most High.

(Psalms 111:9) “He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and reverend is His name.”

I do not allow anybody to call me ‘sir’ — especially when it comes to religious matters because the word ‘sir’ means:

sire [sīr]

Sire address to king or lord: a respectful form of address for a king or lord (archaic)

[12th century. Via French < Latin senior (see senior)]

Microsoft® Encarta® 2007

It is a biblical prohibition!

(1 Peter 5:2-3) “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.” crowd2.jpg

But who is Brother Eli in the religious realm of the present dispensation? Can he be somebody in comparison with religious leaders of this world today? Let us investigate this matter in a scientifically biblical manner.

I am an easterner… a Filipino. Geographically, the Philippines is a part of the east. Biblical prophecies speak of the east.

(Zechariah 8:7) “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country…”

The prophecy is not confined only to countries east of the center of biblical direction or reckoning point, (Jerusalem), but also speaks of east in the geographical sense.

(Malachi 1:11) “For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.”

The prophecy speaks of gentiles in the east (gentiles are those outside of the nation of Israel — God’s chosen people Ephesians 2:11-12). Geographical consideration will place the country of the Philippines as a biblical possibility where incense and pure offerings will be offered to God. Incense means prayers and praises to the God of Israel.

(Revelation 5:8) “And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints…” RSV

Although Japan is called the “land of the rising sun”, which qualifies it, also, to be a possible fulfillment of the prophecy but, generally, they do not praise or pray to the God of Israel, but to other gods, thus, disqualifying them.

(Isaiah 24:15) “Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD; in the coastlands of the sea, to the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.” RSV

As a nation, the Philippines, my country, is included in biblical prophecies.

(Acts 10:34-35) “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”

With regards to dialects and languages, my country of diverse dialects is included in biblical prophecies of salvation.

(Isaiah 66:18-19) “For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.”

Originally, the Philippines is called “Las Islas Filipinas”.

(Revelation 7:9) “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands…”

The number of languages listed for Philippines is 175. Of those, 171 are living languages and 4 are extinct.

http://www.ethnologue.com/show_country.asp?name=PH

As to the manner of God’s calling, my people are qualified to be possible fulfillment of the prophecies.

(1 Corinthians 1:26-29) “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.”

crowd.jpgFilipinos, like me, do not claim supremacy over other nations of the earth. Our history will reveal that we are the oppressed, the exploited, and now are very poor; but I believe that this economic condition in my country does not disqualify us from meriting God’s salvation like the poor nation of Israel.

(Deuteronomy 7:6-7) “For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people…”

(Luke 6:20-23) “And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.”

But how about the person and the work of Brother Eli?

For Reasons Right or Wrong, Jesus Christ is Being Preached About

blogbadge.jpg

Another idiotic claim of Atheists is that Jesus is imaginary. They even say they can prove it in less than five minutes. Many a times, I have encountered people who lie and deny the truth. But this man is a gross liar, reckless, and therefore, brainless. There are people named Santos (a Spanish word for saints), but in reality are evil. There are people whose name tells that they have brains, but they are brainless. When shall they ever grow brains? Maybe, not anymore.

This fool — not imaginary, but real, claims that he is educated and have college degrees in education. Pretending to believe in things scientific now denies the basis of his attacks towards God and the Bible.

Archeology is a branch of science. It was archeology which discovered a limestone with the name Pontius Pilate, a Roman official in the time of Tiberius Caesar who ordered the imposition of death on the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the same Pontius Pilate in the Romans History (Annals 15:44) recorded by the Roman historian Tacitus, and further confirmed by Josephus, a Jewish historian, in his book “Jewish Antiquities”, who ordered the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. How can a real person like Pilate, whose existence was proven scientifically and historically, order the death of imaginary person? Anybody who says that Jesus Christ is imaginary does not respect science: is a fool — an idiot!

(Psalms 53:1) “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.”

A normally functioning ‘BRAIN’, MUST, SHALL declare things consistently. It is abnormal for anybody to stand on a given principle and deny it afterwards. If your basis of principle is science, then, you must stand by it consistently until you have proven your cause.

(Romans 14:22) “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.”

Physical, documentary, testimonial, analytical, and circumstantial evidences surrounding the existence of the Lord Jesus prove that He is not a myth. The discovery of Roman Coins proves the account on Matthew 22:17.

“Tell us therefore, what thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.”

gospelofjudas.jpgThe existence of ancient documents validated by science dating back to as early as 120 A.D. testifies to the works and the person of Jesus. The absence of ancient documents that disproves the existence of Jesus during those times proves that no enemy of Jesus (even the most bitter of them) did have the courage to write anything disproving His existence. In fact, what they have found are, allegedly, ancient documents like: “The Gospel of Judas”, reporting negative things about Jesus: claiming that Jesus married Mary Magdalene; have produced children by her, just to prove further that Jesus really have existed on earth. This, again, testifies to the authenticity of the Bible.

(Philippians 1:15-18) “It’s true that some preach about Christ because they are jealous. But others preach about Christ to help me in my work. The last group acts out of love. They know I have been put here to stand up for the good news. But the others preach about Christ only to get ahead. They are not honest and true. They think they can stir up trouble for me while I am being held by chains. But what does it matter? Here is the important thing. Whether for reasons that are right or wrong, Christ is being preached about. That makes me very glad. And I will continue to be glad.” NIRV

I am very much honored in believing the Lord Jesus Christ. Report that He is good, it is good! Report negative things about Him, it is good! Deny Him and His existence, it is good! Why? Because you are a fool if you deny somebody who did not exist at all.

Imagine, about thirty (30) ancient documents validated by science, written by a doctor, a lawyer, fishermen, and a tax collector of the Roman Empire — most of whom are eyewitnesses to the person, miracle, passion, death, and resurrection of Christ, being contested by a BRAINless man in our time. Tell your lies to the marines; not just to ordinary marines, but to the smartest of them — the American Marines; and I believe they will not believe you. Tell it to Dan Brown, and he will curse you: because he believes that Jesus married Mary Magdalene!

(Luke 1:1-3) “Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus…”

Testimonial Evidences from Eyewitnesses to Jesus’ Miracles

blogbadge.jpg

There are four kinds of evidence which are acceptable to any legal mind, namely: (1) physical, (2) documentary, (3) testimonial, (4) analytical. The claim (see video below) of these ‘imaginary people that the miracles performed by the Lord Jesus Christ did not leave behind any evidence is unfounded and idiotic. Let us examine the issue.

In the first place, we have to consider the accounts in the Bible written by the apostles and evangelists, as testimonial and analytical evidences. John 20:30-31 says:

“And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

The miracle in Cana, turning water into wine, was witnessed by John and other eyewitnesses, wrote it in his account, and the existence of manuscripts dating back to as early as 120 A.D.(fig. 1), can now be considered as testimonial, analytical, and physical evidence.

These informations written in the Bible, written in ancient writing materials, and are now preserved in various museums of the world, whose authenticity and antiquity is unchallenged even by the detractors of the Bible, can be considered as analytical pieces of evidences.

Luke, a medical doctor and the only gentile writer of Bible books, writing to another Gentile, Theophilus, (gentile is someone who is not Jew), investigated the miracles and the works done by the Lord Jesus from eyewitnesses, wrote them in his gospel and in the book of Acts, left them as documentary evidence of Jesus’ miracles.

(Luke 1:1-3) “Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus…”

(Acts 1:1-2)“In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.”

Note that what Luke wrote are accounts from eyewitnesses, and first hand informations, investigated with a perfect understanding of what factually happened.

The testimonial account written and left by the apostles can be subjected to scientific investigation by any legal mind, and can be proven true by collateral pieces of physical evidences.

The absence of physical evidence in our time does not mean that there is no evidence at all! The Lord Jesus healed a woman with an issue of blood for twelve years. Unfortunately, there were no medical forms accomplished and signed by the woman to have documentary evidence from the very person healed. It was not customary then. But eyewitnesses to the miracle wrote them and we have them now in the Bible. If only there were video cameras in those days, maybe these ‘imaginary people’ will believe! Further, there were no contending parties then that deny the authenticity of the miracles, so, the Christians did not see any necessity to preserve the remains of the woman that was healed!

(Matthew 9:20-22) “And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.”

These accounts written by the apostles, and were read by so many detractors of Jesus were not contested by the great-great grandfather of these ‘imaginary people’. The following are the collateral evidences to prove the authenticity of the writings of the apostles who were eyewitnesses to the miracles done by Jesus.

Roman coins found by archeologists prove the account in Matthew 22:17-21.

A piece of limestone on which the name of Pontius Pilate was inscribed proves the existence of the miracle-performing Jesus.

pontius-pilate.jpg

The Roman historian Tacitus wrote concerning the Great Fire of Rome, in book 15, chapter 44 of his Annals (c. 116):

“Nero subdidit reos et quaesitissimis poenis adfecit, quos per flagitia invisos vulgus Christianos appellabat. Auctor nominis eius Christus Tibero imperitante per procuratorem Pontium Pilatum supplicio adfectus erat;”

English Translation:

“Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius”

Even a Jewish historian by the name of Flavius Josephus wrote about the miracles and the works done by the Lord Jesus (- Jewish Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63).

Testimonium Flavianum

(Flavius Josephus’ Account of Jesus)

“About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him. And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared.”

Unfortunate for these materialistic idiots, when Jesus performed a miracle of Himself when He resurrected from the dead, did not leave any physical evidence, because no evidence was left in the grave!

They say that Jesus did not leave behind any evidence of His miracles. Just look who is talking!

Bad Things Happen to the Good, the Bad…and the Ugly.

Apparently, these ‘imaginary allegedly scientific-minded people’ has conceived the idea that bad things should not happen to good people. I believe they believe in earthquakes. Scientifically, it is the movement of the tectonic plates below the surface of the earth. Perhaps, they will ask: “why do earthquakes affects the good, and the bad, and the ugly?” They must ask science! And if science can not give them the answer, they should also say that science is ‘imaginary’.

But God, my God, in His magnificence, has a convincing answer to an understanding mind.

(Proverbs 8:8-9) “All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.”

In the days of Noah, we are told by the infallible word of God that:

“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” (Genesis 7:11)

No human being in the time of Noah, and even later, when this account was written by Moses more than 3000 years ago, has any knowledge of the broken tectonic plates of the earth. But the Bible has it: proving that the information comes not from a mortal being, but from God.

Until now, no available scientific instrument can predict the exact time of an earthquake; and the Bible tells us the reason why.

(Hebrews 12:26-27) “Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”

The shaking of the earth, or an earthquake, denotes that the earth will pass away! This is believed by science, especially now that science has proven the demise of heavenly bodies like stars, when they have detected the ‘presence’ of black holes in the universe. The Bible has this to say:

(Psalms 102:25-26) “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed…”

The spread of flu virus in the air, scientifically, is not caused by something evil. Where the direction of the movement of the air is, there the viruses will be carried. The pressure of the air in the sneeze of an infected person may bring the virus and the infection to the person nearest him or within five meters from him.

Sneezing is unpredictable, sometimes, even to the person who is going to sneeze. Catching flu is bad, but are we going to blame the air? If the air will not move, then the temperature of the earth will not be comfortable for humans. And in blaming the air, are you going to conclude that the air is ‘imaginary’? Idiots!

Are you going to device an unfavorable conclusion if the sun, which is good and intended by God for the goodness of good people, to shine even to idiots? I believe even idiots will not blame God for having His sun shine even to those who curse Him.

(Matthew 5:45) “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.”

If good things happens even to the bad and the ugly (like you), and you do not complain, why are you going to blame God if a good person is infected by the flu virus? The Bible tells us that at random, this is reality.

(Ecclesiastes 9:2) “All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.”

Something good may happen to someone who is bad, and something perceived by the ignorant as bad, may happen to good people! But understanding in the word of God will teach us that these are not bad things at all.

(Romans 8:28) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

If a good person is cheated (which maybe regarded as something bad), he is given by God the chance to pardon and to forgive those who cheated him, thus, making him a better person.

(1 Corinthians 6:7) “Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?”

The person whom you have forgiven realizing his fault and your kindness can also be turned to be a better person! This is God’s equitable dealings with people.

(2 Peter 3:9) “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Good things happen to bad people to make them good! Bad things happen to good people to make them cautious, and to teach them to forgive and to have longsuffering, thus, making them not only good, but excellent!

When there is an epidemic of flu, stay away from people that sneeze. Have a little understanding of how the flu virus spreads; cover your nose when somebody sneezes; and avoid crowded places so that you will not catch flu, and later, because of your utter ignorance, blame it to anybody.

Here is a brotherly and a friendly advice, when the sun shines it carries goodness intended for the good of people. Bathe yourself with the sun’s rays early and as late as nine o’clock or at most ten o’clock in the morning. Human skin stimulated by sunlight will produce vitamin D which is good for your body! But do not expose yourself to the sun at the peak of its heat until after 2 pm, you might destroy yourself then blame the sun because of your ignorance, and forget the good things that it has done for you.

(Ecclesiastes 9:12-13) “For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them. This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me…”

The Truth About Noah and the ‘Worldwide Flood’

Indeed, ignorance of the Bible will lead somebody to ‘wrestle’ the word of God!

(2 Peter 3:16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction.”

Note that the unlearned are the ones that ‘wrest’ or twist the word of God. In our world today, in spite of the advancement in knowledge and technology, there are some sectors of human society that live in their own chosen world understanding only their own adapted language. These are the imaginary people that believe that God is imaginary. Their brains are neither flexible nor elastic. A rubber band can be elastic to accommodate a bundle of money not normally intended for it to bind. So long as it has not reached the point of its perfect elasticity, you can always rely that a rubber band is accommodating. But what is frustrating is that there are people lesser in degree of elasticity than a rubber band without brains! They have read in the Bible the word ‘earth’ and because of their ignorance, they readily presumed that it pertains to the whole planet earth; and because of their ‘non-elastic mind’, they have this to say:

“THERE WAS NEVER A WORLDWIDE FLOOD THAT COVERED MOUNT EVEREST LIKE THE BIBLE SAYS”

Nowhere in the Bible can you find any verse that speaks of a ‘worldwide flood’. What is in the Bible are the following informations:

(Genesis 7:10-12) “And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.”

(Genesis 7:17-20) “And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.”

Nowhere in these verses mentioned can you find a hint of a ‘worldwide flood’. The flood was ‘upon the earth’. All throughout theses verses the word earth was used. The earth or ‘erets’ in Hebrew, means:

‘erets

eh’-rets

From an unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land): - X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world. (Dictionaries of Hebrew and Greek Words taken from Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance by James Strong, S.T.D., LL.D., 1890.)

The word ‘erets’ may mean ‘partitively, a land, a country, a field, a ground, etc. Notice Genesis 1:10, which says;

“And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.”

The dry land that God caused to appear on the surface of the waters which He called “seas”, He called earth — ‘erets’! Note that the ‘earth’ here does not include the seas.

The flood that happened in the time of Noah flooded the ‘erets’ and not the seas… Of course, YOU DO NOT FLOOD THE SEAS! So, this is not a worldwide flood as these imaginary idiots claim. I hope they will not be offended because they are imaginary.

The Bible has a unique language. It was written to be read, first by the people of the then known world. In the time of the apostle Paul, he said:

(Colossians 1:23) “If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister…”

banauetalaga1.jpgHere, he used the past tense of the word ‘kerusso’. Paul is confident when he wrote to the Colossians that he was able to preach the Gospel to ‘every’ creature which is under heaven. At about the same time that Paul was preaching the gospel to the known world (the world of the Roman Empire), the famous Rice Terraces in Banaue, Mountain Province in the Philippines is being built by the Ifugaos, one of the aborigines of the Filipinos.

The Banaue Rice Terraces are 2000-year old terraces that were carved into the mountains of Ifugao in the Philippines by ancestors of the Batad indigenous people. It is commonly thought that the terraces were built with minimal equipment, largely by hand. The terraces are located approximately 1500 meters (5000 feet) above sea level and cover 10,360 square kilometers (about 4000 square miles) of mountainside. They are fed by an ancient irrigation system from the rainforests above the terraces.

But Paul did not reach the Philippines, or the Americas, so, having flexibility in mind in understanding the language of the Bible we can discern that what the apostle Paul means when he said he “preached the gospel to every creature under heaven”, is to the people only of the known world then. Incidentally, the Philippines was discovered only in the sixteenth century by the Europeans led by Ferdinand Magellan.

When the Bible classified the bats (Leviticus 11:13,19) as belonging to the ‘oph’ (Hebrew), it means that it is classified with those “as covering with wings” or those “that flieth”.

ôph

From H5774; a bird (as covered with feathers, or rather as covering with wings), often collective: – bird, that flieth, flying, fowl (Dictionaries of Hebrew and Greek Words taken from Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance by James Strong, S.T.D., LL.D., 1890.)

bats.jpeg

Detractors of the Bible say that it is not scientific because science classifies bats as belonging to the mammalian group. They rely very much on science, and for them science is the final authority of what they believe. This author is not against science, but human science is not as exact as ‘divine science’ in the Scriptures.

(Daniel 1:4) “Children in whom was no blemish, but well favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.”

Human science has classified plants and animals only on the seventeenth and eighteenth century.

At any one time in history, there are millions of different kinds of plants and animals in the world. In 1753, a scientist in Sweden named Carolus Linnaeus thought of an orderly system for classifying plants and animals. He grouped all organisms according to a two-part name (binomial). The first part of the name is the “generic” grouping or genus. The second part is the “specific” grouping or species. Scientists today still use this basic idea of his system, but modern classifications systems are much more complicated having many levels of hierarchical organization. For example, taxonomic systems group organisms according to structure and physiological connections between organisms.(http://www.fi.edu/tfi/units/life/classify/classify.html)

Before these times, the acceptable classifications for bats, because they fly, is that they belong to the ‘ophs’ or the fowls, or the birds. The book of Leviticus was written almost 2500 years before classifications in human science came. Note that the classification introduced by Linnaeus employs two basic ideas: the ‘generic’ and the ‘specific’. The classification used in the Bible is exactly generic, and therefore, in a way, scientific! After all, the word mammal is not in the Bible! The word mammalia was coined by Linnaeus only in 1758!

Mammalia (1773), coined 1758 by Linnaeus for the class of mammals, from neut. pl. of L.L. mammalis “of the breast,” from L. mamma “breast,” perhaps cognate with mamma.

The book of Leviticus that records the existence of bats was written by Moses in around 1512 BC, more than three thousand years before Linnaeus was born!

When the apostles were commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ to make disciples and ‘teach all nations’, the Lord Jesus Christ knows, and the apostles understood it, that He speaks only of all nations of the ‘known world’. It is impossible for the apostles to physically reach the Americas or my country, the Philippines. The apostles do not have the slightest idea that there are countries existing that time, like the Philippines and the Americas! The phrase “all nations” does not necessarily include all nations of the world or the whole earth.

When the Bible mentioned that the whole ‘erets’ was flooded, it does not necessarily mean that the whole world, including the seas, were flooded! Remember that the word ‘erets’ was used in the Bible, not only to mean the planet earth, but also the dry land.

ararat.gifMost probably, Noah lived not far from where Adam and Eve lived. He is about the tenth generation from Adam. Adam and Eve lived not far from Eden after being expelled from the garden of Eden. Eden is within Turkey. So, the probability is that the flood happened within Turkey. The highest mountain ranges in Turkey are the mountains of Ararat. It was where the ark rested.

(Genesis 8:4) “And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.”

The mountains of Ararat are at the extreme eastern part of Turkey. The ark of Noah did not go too far from ground where it floated because it was not meant to travel, but to float.

The idea of a worldwide flood did not come from the Bible, but from people who do not understand its language!
