The Truth About the Debate against Sam Jordison

Recently, I received a response from Sam Jordison asking why our supposed debate have not been organized. The response goes like this:

“Why did you chaps never manage to organize that debate in the end? I’m still very keen. In the meantime, I thought you might like to know that my new book has been released…”

The talk of a debate against Jordison started when a reader of mine asked me what can I say about an article by (Jordison) calling the Bible as a “readable mess”. I, in turn, answered with an article. Jordison’s first comment on that article was:

“…I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back here as I’m finding the experience a bit – uh- unsettling, but do feel free to post on my blog again… I’m sure we can have an interesting discussion.”

Although he said this, Jordison did came back and visited my blog — this time to promote his book.

“…Hey, listen, I wrote a book you chaps might find interesting:
The Joy Of Sects. You should be able to pick up a copy from amazon.co.uk…”

After that, I made a follow-up article also dedicated to Sam Jordison. Surprisingly, he (Jordison) took his time out to visit and post a comment (again) on my “unsettling” blog. The comment goes like this:

“Hello again,

This article is very interesting too…

…I’ve been getting some comments on my blog about running a debate with Bro Eli and I’d be happy to accept… as long as “logistics” all work out and co… The moderator of this blog is welcome to email me so we can arrange details…”

This was when I learned that brothers in faith actually posted a challenge on his website for him to have a debate against me. I have learned that brethren from London tried to arrange everything for the said debate to transpire.

I would like to make this clear to my readers that I am, with God’s help, always willing and ready to any discussion or debate wherein I will have an opportunity to prove the existence and the magnificence of the Almighty God that I have been serving all my life. This fact is known to every brother and sister in faith in the Church of God, International.

Since the planned debate was provoked few months ago, brothers in faith have been working for the realization of such event, but much to my dismay, an email was forwarded to me by a brother in London which came from Mr. Jordison himself asking for payment and expenses that he will encounter. It is explained by the email hereunder:

“…Have you found a suitable time and date (about the debate)?

…I’d also like to discuss payment, travel expenses and co if possible… Much better to get these things down in email so there’s no confusion than on the phone… What are your terms/ budget etc. I can’t imagine that the whole event is going to be anything less than personally humiliating from my point of view so I’d like some compensation…”

In my four decades of preaching the Gospel, with God’s help, I never asked for a fee from anybody. To this, my witnesses are innumerable.

(2 Corinthians 11:7) Have I committed an offense in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?

Abasing* is humbling oneself before God and before fellowmen.

[*ταπεινόω

tapeinoō

tap-i-no'-o

From G5011; to depress; figuratively to humiliate (in condition or heart): - abase, bring low, humble (self).]

This is a virtue that was not learned by preachers who preached for the sake of money and gain.

(Micah 3:11) The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? None evil can come upon us.

Abasing or humbling oneself is one of the most important admonitions of the Bible.

(James 4:10) Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

(Luke 14:11) For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

This is the best example that was shown when the Lord Jesus Christ took the form of a man.

(Philippians 2:5-8) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

A preacher, by not asking for profit, abases himself. This is the first rule Christ gave His apostles when He sent them to preach.

(Matthew 10:7-8) And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

But there are those pretending to be of God preaching because of money or material gain.

(John 10:12) But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

The hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

The first century Christians did not (in any manner) took anything from none Christians in preaching the word of God.

(3 John 1:7) Because that for his name’s sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles.

The apostle Paul went to the extent of working with his hands to sustain his needs in preaching the Gospel.

(Acts 20:33-35) I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel. Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have showed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

And these sacrifices for the Gospel’s sake He has done with gladness.

(2 Corinthians 12:15) And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

Look for a preacher now in this dispensation who spends his own earnings to finance the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will find most of them amassing wealth by perverting the Gospel.

(2 Corinthians 2:17) For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word; but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ. RSV

And the apparent result is their failing effort to hide their riches and luxuries coming from the very little resources of poor members.

(Jeremiah 5:26-27) For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

It is a great disappointment for me to hear that Sam Jordison, who will futilely disprove the existence of God and expose to people the ‘garbage’ in his mind, is asking for a fee.

(Isaiah 55:2) Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

I would rather add my last cents to my contributions for the poor children of the earth than to spend it to somebody like Sam Jordison; as always for the praise and glory of my God!

To God Be the Glory Forever and Ever!

This is a reply to a comment made by a certain Mr. Renato Salvador on my article posted last October 24, 2007 entitled “The Origin of Humankind”. His comment is as follows:

In every way normal for a person who is an admirer of a person, it is hard not to share your testimony and sentiments toward someone you believe is worth the praise. And that is me for Bro. Eli Soriano. I don’t know but it may be too much already to speak this way or even dull the readers of my true positive feeling toward you Bro. Eli. Before, I dismiss those comments and praise I was reading here about you because there are marks that I believe are testimonies of members from your organization. Now, I believe, I cannot blame them. If it is really worth the praise then there is no way I should object that. In reading some of your most personal sentiments here like this recent article you’ve written, it was so clearly written, vivid and probing. It gives me a whirlwind of thought how you’ve come up with such amazing simple story about a piece of your life, and turn it into some kind of miracle, that touches inside of me. Yes, while writing this comments, tears are streaming down my face. I could not stop it. And I believe, only a person sincere enough could move me to tears like you do.

Renato Salvador

Dear Brother Renato,

It is never a sin to praise and honor anybody to whom praises and honor is due.

(Romans 13:7) Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

Even the inspired writers of the Holy Scriptures like the evangelist Luke used terms in praise to erring man.

(Luke 1:1-3) Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus…

Certainly, Theophilus, as the name denotes, is a Gentile, to whom, by Hebrew standards, does not merit any praise or honor at all, but the evangelist called him “most excellent”. The “most excellent” here certainly does not mean most excellent of all human being, but, maybe among his peers. Respect and honor is due to all men by Christian standards.

(1 Peter 2:17) Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

In the Old Testament, respect and honor was commanded by God to be given to parents.

(Deuteronomy 5:16) Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Obviously, this commandment was changed when the apostle Peter wrote to the Hebrews, observer of the Old Testament laws, to “honor all men”, not only parents.

(Hebrew 8:13) In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

(Hebrew 7:12) For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

I can not see any reason why it will be a sin if members of the Church of God International will honor and respect the person of Brother Eli Soriano.

(Hebrews 13:7) Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.

(Hebrews 13:17) Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

Now, I am obliged by the situation to teach this part of truth in the Christian doctrine! Never in my forty-three years in the ministry did I teach nor encourage anybody to treat me like somebody; for the fact remains until now, (this is my belief and God is my witness) I am nobody.

(Ephesians 3:8) Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ…

If the great apostle Paul believed that he is less than the least of all saints in his times, I believe that I am less than the least of all saints of all times.

My conscience is guided by the meekness taught by the Lord Jesus.

(Luke 17:10) So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

If after doing ALL, a servant must confess that he is an unprofitable servant, then after having just started doing what I ought to do, I can say that I am even less than an unprofitable servant. Most of the times, I refused to be called ‘sir’ as other religious leaders love to hear from their members. Sir is an old archaic word which means ‘lord’.

sire [sīr]

transitive verb (past and past participle sired, present participle sir·ing, 3rd person present singular sires)

father offspring: to father young, especially animals

noun (plural sires)

1. male parent of four-legged animal: the male parent of a four-legged animal, especially a domesticated animal such as a stallion or bull

2. Sireaddress to king or lord: a respectful form of address for a king or lord (archaic)

[12th century. Via French < Latin senior]

The whole congregation to whom I speak weekly is the witness to this fact.

When I started writing articles for this blog site, letters with praises keep pouring in, whose writers I do not know personally. I do not even know if they are members (or not) of the Church of God, International. I have always wanted to forbid them to neither thank me nor honor me in any manner. I do not feel comfortable being praised or honored by men who look up to me as their leader; but verses in the Scriptures have held my hands to write anything to stop them. For years, I have been practicing to incline my conscience towards the Scriptures.

(Acts 24:16) And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men.

It is God who said that a Christian must honor all men. I am a man, although ‘nobody’, but the least, still is a man. I do not want (nor ever will want) to have a conscience of offense towards God who permits any man to be honored. God is not a God that grabs all honors. He even knows how to honor and respect man.

(Psalms 138:6) Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

But after all things have been said and done, it is our duty as erring human who know our own infirmities and shortcomings to give back to God all praises, honor, and glory forever. Amen.

(1 Timothy 6:16) Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

To my readers, may I advice you once and for all to always thank and honor God for whatever truth or wisdom you may learn in reading the articles of this blog site, after all, this is the conscience of the great “men of faith” from whom I have learned this virtue of regarding myself as nobody!

(Acts 13:14-15) Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein…

It is vanity to honor and deify mortal men!

Sincerely in Christ,

The Power that Drives Me

blogbadge.jpg

Conscience is the most intimate of relationship we can know. I am a human person; and I have my conscience. I can not explain how it came into being, but I believe I have one. I have not just read it from the dictionary or from the Bible, but I can feel it. In my person it is a reality that exists within me. One of the reasons why I believe the written word of God is because of my experience with my conscience.

My conscience is my most faithful friend and critic — second to Christ. It always tells me of my shortcomings and my misdeeds, it makes me sense if I am abusing on a certain point or not. It is my unseen guardian that insists or presses me to do what I believe is right.

(Romans 2:15) Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another…

Through this verse, I have discovered that the existence of conscience in a man is an absolute reality. God, by His power, have written His laws in the hearts of men to guide their conscience! But there are those people with evil conscience.

(Hebrews 10:22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Why? There are hearts defiled by the devices of satan. It is the work of God’s archenemy to make evil what God has naturally made good.

(Ecclesiastes 7:29) Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

The uprightness in man was destroyed by the inventions or devices of satan.

(2 Corinthians 11:3) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

(2 Corinthians 2:11) Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

But I believe that even people whose conscience were defiled by satan still know what is good and evil.

(Romans 1:32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

I want to reveal something inside me, for my readers to know what drives me and presses me to use every possible means within my reach in propagating or spreading the Word of God: My conscience.

I have seen drug addicts turned to be better and responsible persons after hearing God’s Word; broken families reunited; vicious persons learned how to love and to be compassionate; and the Godless to be God-fearing.

I started this crusade when I was still a teenager. I began preaching at the age of 19; lead local churches at the age of 23; became a minister at 24; and started leading the whole congregation at 27. At the age of 40, I found myself dearly engaged in a work and a vocation I did not in my dreams have dreamt of. Now, I am old more than half a century, sometimes tired, troubled, caring, and with so many responsibilities. My physique is noticeably declining, but still, I want to continue the work of spreading the Good News — I am driven by my conscience.

03.jpg

(2 Corinthians 4:16) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

(Acts 20:24) But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

I thank God for this kind of conscience He gave me! I may not be perfectly upright, but the God I serve is perfectly one. His perfection makes me realize how imperfect I am, and pushes me to strive, to attain the perfection He expects me to reach.

(Philippians 3:13-14) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

My conscience guided by God’s word taught me how to love; to care for others; to be compassionate to the less-fortunate; and to consider the right of others.

I am writing this piece to invite each and everyone to my newly started “interactive audio podcast”. It has been my delight to serve my God — whatever the cost maybe. I hope and pray that my being ‘nobody’ will be used by the Creator to make people realize how great and merciful He is. Amen!

I will be spending, with God’s help, the last centavo in my pocket — and myself for this God-given vocation.

(2 Corinthians 12:15) And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

Please help me, Father.

God-Inspired Prophecies about a Poor Nation and a Nobody Like Brother Eli

blogbadge.jpg

Prophecies are of great importance among God’s people  as early as the seventh generation from the father of humankind.

(Jude 1:14-15) And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.

(Revelation 19:10) And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

To whom a prophecy is being fulfilled, there rest the testimony of Jesus.

The first century Christians were admonished not to despise prophecies and prophesying.

(1 Thessalonians 5:20) Despise not prophesyings.

There are prophecies meant solely to be fulfilled in the nation of Israel.

(Ezekiel 34:2) Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

There are prophecies meant to have dual fulfillment: both for the Jews and the Gentiles.

(Acts 15:16-17) After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

In fact, the prophet Jeremiah was commanded to prophesy not only for Israel, but for other nations.

(Jeremiah 1:5) Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

It is understandable; therefore, that there are prophecies which fulfillment can happen in other nations of the world.

(1 Kings 8:41) Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake…

(Isaiah 61:5) And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

The Philippines (formerly called “Las Islas Filipinas” in honor of King Philip II of Spain), which is a group of Island in the Pacific Ocean, is included in Biblical prophecies.

(Isaiah 24:15) Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD; exalt the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. NIV

Giving glory or glorifying God means offering the sacrifice of thanksgiving.

(Psalms 50:23) Whoso offereth the sacrifice of thanksgiving glorifieth me; And to him that ordereth his way aright Will I show the salvation of God.

The word used ‘whoso’ or whosoever qualifies anybody that offers thanksgiving to God. A collateral prophecy from Jeremiah, a prophet for nations outside of Israel, states:

(Jeremiah 30:19-22, 24) And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. Their children also shall be as formerly, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them. And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD. And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God…

…The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

araneta.jpg

(Bro. Eli Soriano preaching in Araneta Coliseum, Philippines, one of the largest and more famous domes in the world, to less than 30,000 people searching for the genuine Word of God. This “Bible Exposition” was also broadcast simultaneously all over the world via internet, and through the facilities of Globecast Satellite servers.)

The possibility of this prophecy being fulfilled in the Philippines is 100 percent! Brother Eli and his group are ‘easterners’; and his group is the only congregation in the Philippines that offers the sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the God of Israel — weekly. Brother Eli came from among the group he leads. He was never a Catholic, a Protestant, nor a member of any other religious group but the Church of God first preached in the Philippines by Brother Nicholas Perez.

In the prophecy of Jeremiah, it was emphasized that the people of God mentioned, will have a governor that will come out from among them. They are called God’s people; the time of their existence is explicitly written: The later days or the end times. A collateral prophecy was written by Daniel for the end times.

(Daniel 12:4, 9-10) But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased…

…And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Brother Eli is a nobody, but the wisdom and understanding that he has, because of his fear of the Lord, is undeniable and irrefutable: After all, the prophecy does not require a special somebody in human society to be the preacher of the true teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ.

(John 7:17) If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

The phrase ‘any man’ may apply even to the humble person of Brother Eli. What is vital to determine is the doctrine — if it comes from God, from the Bible, or from one’s self.

He that speaks in behalf of God for His glory is sent by God.

(John 7:18) He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

There are those that speak of themselves — not coming from God, or from the Bible!

He that fears the Lord and doeth righteousness is acceptable unto Him.

(Acts 10:34-35) Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

The Philippines as a nation, and Brother Eli as a citizen of the Philippines, is a fulfillment of this prophecy.

Brother Eli, whenever he preaches, reads the Bible. Questions are answered by the Bible (See video below).

(Jonathan Hudson of Los Angeles, California asks Brother Eli if God can commit sin. In return, Brother Eli answers his question not from his own capacity, but from biblical verses that was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God)

His work and manner of preaching fits another prophecy.

(Revelation 1:3) Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Let us compare.

The Bible says, “Do not bow down thyself unto man-made images nor worship them.”

(Deuteronomy 5:8-9) Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me…

(Acts 17:29) Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Leaders of the Catholic Church command their members to bow, worship, and pray to graven images. Are these leaders sent of God?

whatisasaint-edited.jpg

The Bible says:

(Matthew 23:9) …call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Catholic leaders wanted to be called father — against the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

pope.jpg

The Bible says that the law on tithing is for the Levite priests to collect among their brethren, and such priesthood was changed, therefore, the law on tithing was changed, also. But until now, leaders of Protestants and Born-Again Movements collect tithes from their members.

(Hebrews 7:5, 12) And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham…

…For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Collection in the New Testament Church is:

(1 Corinthians 16:1-2) Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Tithing is not imposed; instead, the ‘Christian heart’ decides how much to give.

(2 Corinthians 9:7) Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

And what is shocking is that the leader of the famous 700 Club, International is asking as high as 90%.

ang_sagot.jpg

Apollo Quiboloy teaches a month of sacrifice, which is not Biblical and even, dictates the amount that a member should give.

quiboloy_money_making.jpg

Another foolish teaching of this false prophet is that the new Jerusalem is his native city of Davao in the Philippines (See image below), to where God, allegedly, will transfer His throne.

new_jerusalem.jpg

(He has chosen Davao City to become His New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem will become the center of the universe. God’s throne will be moved from the third heaven to this earth. — Taken from the official website of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ)

A similar foolishness came from one of the false prophets of the Americas, Joseph Smith — claiming (which never came true) that New Jerusalem will be in the State of Missouri, USA.

ce-dcmissouri.jpg

The Bible tells us that the New Jerusalem will come from above — from God; not from this earth.

(Revelation 21:1-2) And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

This brief insight will make everybody realize that the teachings of the Bible being preached by Brother Eli is very far from the erroneous teachings of so many so-called ‘great’ religious leaders of our times.

We will continue, God willing, to compare the erroneous teachings and practices of religious leaders of our times in the next issue of this blog.

God Bless You All.

Bro. Eli,

How dare you to tell us that your church is the real church. You don’t have any rights at all because I was there when you deliver your talks last week and it didn’t convince me at all. You are interpreting your bible in a shallow or literal meaning. All your talks are scripted and I hate to tell this but I find your talks so boring, irritating and nauseating. Sorry about that but i think you need to know this coz you are trying hard and you cannot fool people especially those educated ones and with great faith in our catholic church. Our church is not discriminatory or trying to step foot on others faith. Focus on your own followers. Respect other religion coz we are not a fool to digest all your shallow explanations.

Lillian Fernando

Dear Madame Fernando,

I am very sorry to hear from you that I have no right to say that the Church of God is the true Church. For your information, Madame, it is not only the right of a person to think or to believe he is right, but it is of the highest level of sanity. Because, if you believe that you are wrong and you still have the guts to say that you are right that is the highest level of insanity — as far as my opinion is concerned.

(1 Corinthians 10:23) All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

But of course, it is a basic human right — you are entitled to your own opinion; but don’t forget mine.

(Matthew 7:12) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

The Catholic Church spearheaded the notion and claim that it is the only one true church in the world, and there is no salvation outside of it.

Others followed suit.

The true Church in the Bible never claimed that it is the true church because it does not have any feeling of guilt or insecurity. In fact, with the help of your computer, you can easily type the phrase “true church”, and instantaneously find out that there is no such term in the Bible. If I say that the Church of God is the true church because I believe in the Bible, it is my religious right; and I am not saying — and never will I — that my church is the true church (as you have accused me of), because I do not have any church of my own; only preaching the Church written in the Bible.

If you open your Bible (particularly the official Bible of the Roman Catholic Church), the church in the Bible is the Church of God.

(Acts 20:28) Take heed to yourselves and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the Church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood. DOUAY-RHEIMS VERSION

And because it is the church which is written in the Bible, don’t I have the right to believe that it is the true church?

The official name of your church, “The Holy Catholic Apostolic Roman Church”, is not written in the Bible. It only acquired its official name in the Vatican Council of 1870. So, it is understandable that it is not the ‘true’ church in the Bible. (See reference below)

romancatholic-edited.jpg

Imagine, a church that claims that it is the original, having its official name only after eighteen hundred long years!

You said “that you were bored listening to me”. I respect your right; but you see, when I also listen to sermons of priests, I am more than bored because they do not teach the Bible — but their own opinion. Want an example?

limbo_large.jpg

The Catholic Church, for centuries, taught its followers the existence of limbo. Millions have died believing in it; but now, your present pope declared that limbo does not exist, so, it is a mere opinion of the past popes, or its non-existence is also an opinion of the present.

Here is another opinion of your leaders, which is blatantly non-biblical. We came from apes? Biblically, we were created directly by God as humans.

(Genesis 2:7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Your pope now said “that there is substantial scientific proof of the theory of evolution”, which declaration proves the ignorance of your leaders regarding the Bible.

You said that, I am “trying hard, that I am fooling people”, which you did not substantiate with any evidence — biblical or outside of the Bible. For this I have to say that it is the opposite. I am not trying hard because it is very easy for me to prove that your practices in your church like, kneeling before idols, praying before idol of stones and woods are prohibited by God.

(Deuteronomy 5:7-9) Thou shalt not have strange gods in my sight. Thou shalt not make to thy self a graven thing, nor the likeness of any things, that are in heaven above, or that are in the earth beneath, or that abide in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not adore them, and thou shalt not serve them. For I am the Lord thy God, a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon their children unto the third and fourth generation, to them that hate me… DOUAY-RHEIMS VERSION

(Acts 17:29) Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

You said that “I am fooling people”, but I am not the one fooling people because I am reading to them the words of God in the Bible, but your priests do not — as often as I do!

You also said that, “our church is not discriminatory or trying to step foot on others faith.” To this, I say, as a brotherly advice to you, that you must do a little research. Your church does not only trample the rights of other faith, but executes or murders those who do not want to believe in her doctrines. To this, the late Pope John Paul II, I call as my witness.

inquistions1.jpg

The most disgusting of your comment is “Respect other religion coz we are not a fool to digest all your shallow explanations.” You should have said this to your leaders. I respect other’s faith, but I have to follow my God’s instruction to shout and tell people the truth.

(Isaiah 58:1) Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

I am sorry to hear from you that you “can not digest my shallow explanations”. It is your right. But if my shallow explanations can not be digested by you, the more your digestive system will be in trouble if you encounter the deeper things of God in the Bible.

(1 Corinthians 2:10) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

It is the Spirit that reveals the truth of the word of God in the Bible in the heart of a man, not the explanation of anybody — including Brother Eli.

(Acts 16:14) And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

I pray to God that He may enlighten you.

God Bless You.

A Scientific Way of Discovering Biblical Truth (Part 3)

blogbadge.jpg

This is the third installment of my article entitled “A Scientific Way of Discovering Biblical Truth”

One does not have to be a special someone in society to be instrumental in preaching the true Gospel of Christ. The very first called Apostles were illiterate fishermen.

(Acts 4:13) Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Those who are called for God’s special purpose are mostly ‘nobodies’ in society.

(1 Corinthians 1:26-29) For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are…

This is God’s way in expressing and making known His power. The unimportant and the poor nation of Israel were chosen to be God’s people.

(Deuteronomy 7:6-7) For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people…

They were then the only people of God on earth.

(2 Kings 5:15) And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.

(Romans 9:4-5) Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

Jesus Christ, the greatest person who ever lived on earth, came out from these oppressed people of God. John the Baptist, a great prophet, is a poor uneducated man.

(Matthew 3:4) And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leather girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

This is consistently the pattern of God’s salvation wherein He uses the lowly to do great task.

(Ecclesiastes 9:14-15) There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

Paul, an educated Apostle confessed of his infirmity, thus, leaving him no chance of glorifying himself.

(2 Corinthians 12:6-9) For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Brother Eli: The person and the work

02.jpgI have nothing to boast or to glory about myself. I am definitely nobody. Whatever infirmities or defects I have in my person is known to my peers. As I have said before, I am not perfectly witty, but I am perfectly me.

I am not ashamed about my person to anyone because I know that this is the way my Creator wants me to be: In height; the color of my skin (now, with blemishes); my eyes (although quite protruding); my voice (which I know is not quite inviting to ears — but I love singing); and the entire person I am. To sum it all up, I am not of a very pleasing personality; but I want to tell everybody that it is not my goal to please everybody, but my God. Of course, conscientiously, I want to please people — as it is convenient to live without enemies. But I know, of certainty, the path that I am presently treading is one where I will meet and make more enemies than friends.

Can I be used by God as a preacher of the true Gospel? Let us consult the Holy Scriptures. The only quality needed for somebody to be used by God as Instrument of His righteousness is to be clean or pure.

(2 Timothy 2:19-21) Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.” Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also vessels of wood and of earthenware, and some to honor and some to dishonor. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

I believe it is the Master that prepares a vessel for a good work. It is not within man’s ability to clean and prepare himself for a good work or purpose.

(Jeremiah 10:23) O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

Doing good is an obligation of anyone who knows how to do it.

(James 4:17) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

My fear of the Lord, and the fear to sin consistently, are the factors that drives me to speak the Gospel — to preach it.

When I first got hold of a Bible, there was, inside me, a power that made me feel the urge to read… and read more… and more… and more.

As I read, verses were imprinted in my mind one after the other, verses that arouse my consciousness about every problem and questions in life. What is life for? Why does it end? Who gives it? And what will be the afterlife?

These questions were all answered until the time that I can not anymore contain it within me, but I want to share it to others, as somebody who has found a great wealth willing to share and alleviate the sufferings of the poor.

The knowledge that I have accumulated in reading the word of God obliges me to speak and share the truth that I have known. My faith gives me the strength to speak.

(2 Corinthians 4:13) We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak…

I know that the mouth of a human person can be used to tell the truth about God.

(Romans 10:10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I have a mouth and there is faith in my heart, these compel me to break my silence. I believe people should be warned. They have to hear the Good News; it is not only their right, but my obligation.

(Bro. Eli Soriano preaching in Araneta Coliseum, one of the largest and more famous dome in the world, to less  than 30,000 people searching for the genuine Word of God.  This “Bible Exposition” was also broad casted  simultaneously all over the world via internet, and through the facilities of Globecast Satellite servers.)

(1 Corinthians 9:16) For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!

I have an open mind and heart. If there is anybody in this dispensation who knows better than what I have known, I am willing to be subjected to him and help him labor for the glory of the God of Israel.

I am old and tired. I have labored for years; but I believe what I have done, is not even an inch of the many miles of work that lies ahead. I do not know when I will rest, but before I finally close my lips in silence, God-willing, until that time, I want to speak the truth — and nothing but the truth. So help me God. Until then, I am nobody.

(Luke 17:10) So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, we are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

To this, I say, AMEN!

A Scientific Way of Discovering Biblical Truth (Part 2)

blogbadge.jpg

This is the second installment of my article entitled “A Scientific Way of Discovering Biblical Truth”.

I do not claim to be an Apostle, an executive minister, or a ‘sumo pontifice’ (supreme pontiff), or a ‘supremo’ among those people who follow me in faith. I refuse to be called pastor, reverend or sir.

The word reverend was only used once in the King James Version of the Bible (KJV) to describe the name of the Most High.

(Psalms 111:9) “He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and reverend is His name.”

I do not allow anybody to call me ‘sir’ — especially when it comes to religious matters because the word ‘sir’ means:

sire [sīr]

Sire address to king or lord: a respectful form of address for a king or lord (archaic)

[12th century. Via French < Latin senior (see senior)]

Microsoft® Encarta® 2007

It is a biblical prohibition!

(1 Peter 5:2-3) “Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.” crowd2.jpg

But who is Brother Eli in the religious realm of the present dispensation? Can he be somebody in comparison with religious leaders of this world today? Let us investigate this matter in a scientifically biblical manner.

I am an easterner… a Filipino. Geographically, the Philippines is a part of the east. Biblical prophecies speak of the east.

(Zechariah 8:7) “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country…”

The prophecy is not confined only to countries east of the center of biblical direction or reckoning point, (Jerusalem), but also speaks of east in the geographical sense.

(Malachi 1:11) “For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.”

The prophecy speaks of gentiles in the east (gentiles are those outside of the nation of Israel — God’s chosen people Ephesians 2:11-12). Geographical consideration will place the country of the Philippines as a biblical possibility where incense and pure offerings will be offered to God. Incense means prayers and praises to the God of Israel.

(Revelation 5:8) “And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and with golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints…” RSV

Although Japan is called the “land of the rising sun”, which qualifies it, also, to be a possible fulfillment of the prophecy but, generally, they do not praise or pray to the God of Israel, but to other gods, thus, disqualifying them.

(Isaiah 24:15) “Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD; in the coastlands of the sea, to the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.” RSV

As a nation, the Philippines, my country, is included in biblical prophecies.

(Acts 10:34-35) “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.”

With regards to dialects and languages, my country of diverse dialects is included in biblical prophecies of salvation.

(Isaiah 66:18-19) “For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.”

Originally, the Philippines is called “Las Islas Filipinas”.

(Revelation 7:9) “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands…”

The number of languages listed for Philippines is 175. Of those, 171 are living languages and 4 are extinct.

http://www.ethnologue.com/show_country.asp?name=PH

As to the manner of God’s calling, my people are qualified to be possible fulfillment of the prophecies.

(1 Corinthians 1:26-29) “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.”

crowd.jpgFilipinos, like me, do not claim supremacy over other nations of the earth. Our history will reveal that we are the oppressed, the exploited, and now are very poor; but I believe that this economic condition in my country does not disqualify us from meriting God’s salvation like the poor nation of Israel.

(Deuteronomy 7:6-7) “For thou art a holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people…”

(Luke 6:20-23) “And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.”

But how about the person and the work of Brother Eli?

To be continued…
